Dayz dev staff doubled

I honestly think that zombie AI is just back burner right now aside from making them walk up stairs, it hasn't changed since release as far as I can tell.

There have definitely been some changes, just nothing massive. They used to just run through everything and anything as if it wasn't there, now at least they do some basic pathfinding around fences and other objects.

AI in the RV engine is incredibly tricky. Zombies are something that will take a long time to get anywhere close to perfect.

Yeah, I noticed they seem to have more of a "path" now, which allows me to maneuver around stuff to get rid of them a lot easier than before. Kind of nice, but I too don't expect them to have zed pathing/behavior nailed down for a while. I believe the same team working on the animals+hunting will be responsible for the zed stuff as well, if I remember correctly.

Doubling the staff of thirty is still 20 full time dedicated developers less than Star Citizen which I believe does not have a publisher.

So big fucking deal.  bohemia can only fund 30 now and sixty later but Star Citizen without a publisher has had 80 full time developers for months now. I want Dayz to suceed but this is why I point this out.

Lets be honest here. Would you really want to buy a game if the head developer wasn't commited to creating it? Yeah of course there are other developers, but there is no other Dean "Rocket" Hall, in charge of not being retarded.

They wouldn't use the searchfunction nor read this thread first anyway, so don't bother. ;)

What's this "search function" you speak of?

Oh, wonderful - you hired how many people to add cooking? You added HOW MANY PEOPLE TO REPLACE ONE IRREPLACEABLE RESOURCE? In the industry there's a term - bankable assets. When you have someone who is irreplaceable you pay them whatever they need, irreplaceable. I'll bet the 12-20 people hired will have nothing to do with any of the following areas of concern:

  1. Zombie pathing and vision - they come through walls or whatever they want whether they can see you or not to attack you. And when they do attack you their AI is laughable. Just strafe around them and because they attack linearly they'll never hit you. I can barehand kill an infinite volume of zombies as if it were a joke.
  2. Object pathing and boundaries - why can an log out in a tower, then log back in and arm a weapon only to suddenly fall to my death for no reason? Why can a zombie attack me from nowhere and knock me into the walls of a building where I ultimately get stuck?

Forget baking, farming, or whatever - these are they types of issues that the users want addressed. If the manpower you've obtained doesn't have the chops to tackle this small piece of work - fire them all and look for new management. That's a challenge, please rise to it.
