Weapons flashlights inop... Confirmed! 37.115791 HC

Recommended Posts

Can someone verify this issue I've come across.  With experimental build 0.37.115791 playing hard=core if it matters, the weapons flashlights (pistol and M4) will not activate once they are attached to the weapon. When you attempt to turn on, you see "turn on" as an option, but not "turn off".

If you separate/remove the flashlight attachment from the weapon and place it in your inventory, you can then turn it on or then off. However, there is no light projected in either case. The head mounted light/torch and the hand held flashlight work fine.

I've reported the issue btw.

Did you put batteries on those flashlights? You need batteries

Yep, not that much of a noob, though thanks for asking btw. I swapped batteries back and forth between the hand held, head mounted, FNX, and M4.  The hand held works fine, so does the head mounted light. Also tried a couple different weapons flash lights, and a few different batteries for shits and giggles.

Hm. Try pressing 'L' after you switch it to on. In ArmA 2 that was how you'd get the flashlight on. Maybe the weapon light thinks it needs turned on again.

OR, see if there is a key to 'turn on light/laser'

I don't know why it would want the extra button press, but if it still thinks it's in ArmA 2 then maybe that'll work?

Can confirm that I got similar results with pistol flashlight on HC experimental. I.e. get 'turn on' option but light will not come on when selected nor will the contextual menu options change (I.e. 'turn on' will not change to 'turn off'). Did not bother taking the flashlight off and do not possess an M4 weapon flashlight.

It just started with this latest build.  I hadn't played much in the dark the past few weeks and with this update most of the servers are running a 14:00 - 18:00 clock which results in a hour or so of darkness before the server resets.  I found I was enjoying that aspect of the game (Zombie re-spawns make it very interesting).  I not one to up gamma, it just takes too much away from the experience so I started messing with the various alternative light sources and found this issue.

I see. Bummer it doesn't work. Good catch on the bug though! Hopefully it'll be fixed next build.

I was having similiar problems on standard servers. No easy way to turn on a gun flash light once attached, or off...making them largely useless with any kind of population. Bug report ahoy!

It's possible that the battery was dead.

More importantly, all flashlights have been broken for a long time.

Sure, they show a sharply defined circle of "light," but that's not how light, or the human eye works at night.

I've actually run into this issue within the last couple of days with a pristine pistol flashlight I found; I removed the battery from my head torch (which worked fine), put it in the pistol flashlight, then attached it to my 1911. However, when I right-click the pistol in my inventory, there's no option to turn on the light, only to detach it. After detaching it from the pistol, I have the option to turn it on and off, but no light is emitted at all. I removed the battery and placed it back into my head torch, which worked fine, so I don't think it's an issue with the battery, unless the pistol light takes more juice than the head torch. I've also tried various key on my keyboard, but nothing seemed to work, so I'm currently at a loss to explain it.
