Suggestion Thread [Ongoing] [Read the spoilers!]

Hello, in this thread my friend Gh0ST and I want to present you our ideas for the DayZ Standalone.
We had some ideas whilst waiting for our train and we thought you guys might want to check them out:



Ideas:

  • Magazine Throwing
  • Car Spawning in Barns
  • Breaking Doors
  • Zombies in Houses
  • Zombies reacting to Light at Night
  • Weather and Environmental Effects
  • Carrying Players
  • Defibrilator Changes

So lets go into detail with our ideas:




1.) Throw a Magazine to an Ally



- If you have a spare magazine in your inventory and look at an ally you get an option in your scroll menu
"Throw Magazine", then the game needs to check if the other Player is in range (as example 5m). And if you
use "Throw Magazine" you do an throwing animation and the other player a catch animation so that it looks clean.

- Scroll menu option to refuse the action [Thanks to MathBuster]


2.) Car Spawning in Barns


- Replace the existing Barn in DayZ with a barn like this.

- Lets say there are X Barns on the map, a random selection of Y Barns on the map to let a car spawn in it.
The car should be broken as hell [its old and was there for years]

- But there isn't just the car so you can take it. The car is covered with rubble and stuff that you have to remove before you get near
the car.

- For that you need a Shovel! You pull out your shovel and go next to the rubble then use a action in your scroll menu that's called
"Remove Rubble" to start removing the rubble. Your screen goes black for X Minutes or a shoveling animation is started.
[in this X Minutes you aren't protected so if zombies hear you or players you cant defend yourself -> this strengthens the group playing in DayZ ]

- If Player1 is shovelling a second Player "Player2" can go next to Player1 with a Shovel in his hand to help him. The time gets divided by "PlayerCount".
Or to make it more realistic every player gets an "health multiplier" that is calculated from his health status [blood, Food, Water, Energy].
So the time gets multiplied by X [health multiplier].

Example: Player 1 -> completely healthy -> health multiplier -> 1
Player 2 -> wounded,hungry -> health multiplier -> 0.7

So if you need 10 Minutes to remove the rubble Player 1 needs only the 10 minutes because he is very healthy. [Time / health multiplier]
But Player 2 would need 14 minutes + because he isn't that healthy. [Time / health multiplier]
Together they need 8:30 Minutes because the health multiplier gets divided for both and then aggregated. [ (([health mulitplier Player 1] / 2) + ([health multiplier Player 2] / 2)) x Time ]


3.) Breaking Doors


- There is a random chance that a door somewhere on the Map is clamped.

- To open it you need something to break down the door [Crowbar,Shovel,Firefighter Axe,Weapon with Bayonet,Machete].

- There is a random chance that the door isn't open after the first try.

- There is a random chance that the item you used to open the door gets damaged or breaks if the item was already in bad condition before opening the door.


4.) Zombies in Houses


- Zombies spawning in houses and doing something there like laying in the bed or standing in the kitchen at the stove or something else.
[so you need to be careful in houses aswell]


5.) Zombies Reacting to Light at Night


- Zombies aren't just reacting to sound no, they reacting to light at night aswell.

- When you are running with an flash light through a town the zombies are reacting to this and try to get to the light.

- You can throw a road flare to distract the zombies so you can get into a building unseen.


6.) Weather and Environmental Effects


- Random chance to have a foggy weather at morning.

- If its raining you should have lower view distance.

- Storm

- heavy rain [affects view distance]

- thunder and lightning

- strong wind [affects ballistic]

- particle effects [leaves, trash]


7.) Carrying Unconscious \ Wounded Players


- If somebody is unconscious or wounded you can carry him on your shoulders like in the mod. Not drag him! Nobody drags a wounded person 10km on asphalt.
[Carrier can defend himself with his pistol[no ADS,imprecise]

- Carrier needs to drink,eat and rest more because he is carrying the extra weight.

- Allow to carry people with a broken leg or low blood.


8.) Defibrilator Changes

- You need to take off the clothes of a person with an life-threatening ventricular fibrillation to use the Defibrillator on him\her.

I think when they add bikes they should add pegs, say if you had two pegs you can have a passenger, but only if you have pegs.!

When Hiding bodies a "Are you sure?" box should come up and there should be a "Don't ask me again" tick box in it, because mis-clicking my friends bodies is annoying

Sorry but the only thing he mentioned in his Video was the magazine throwing.

He didnt talk about the other things at all.

So he didn't speak about weather affecting your character? Did you watch the whole video? He also mentioned the zombies and that it's something they are working to improve, the respawns and that the zombies will be in houses. I also wrote "most" of their ideas, not all.

Did you read the Spoilers ?

Our idea with the weather had nothing to do with affacting your chracter, it was more about how weather affects the ballistics of your weapon. I didnt hear him talk about that.

Also I know he talked about zombies being in houses, but our idea was not mainly about them being in houses, but more about them DOING something in them.
