Lord Ikka 25 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) I'll admit, it may have been an overreaction. I saw you running from the south while I was running from the north. At first, I believed you were a fresh spawn with on black shirt/pants on. I drew my SKS because I didn't want to get punched in the face. As I drew closer you put your hands up and stood still while calling out "Friendly" in a vaguely Russian accent, very softly and garbled.I was encouraged by the nonconfrontational posture you had adopted but I am a naturally wary person. Even closer I moved to you and unpleasant details became more clear; you were wearing full military garb, a Payday mask, and had a Mosin on your back. Twenty feet away now, your hands come down and my rifle comes up. As you begin to move, I fire. You drop and I shoot again. You have tripped my danger sense and now I have to check if you are alive. It is a sad negative; one of my bullets smashed through your mask and helmet to steal away your life. I mourn briefly then begin the task of checking your equipment for useful items.Your backpack is full of ammo and two additional magnums. Hmm, only weapons and ammo fill your inventory, along with some handcuffs, a burlap sack, and a couple of rotten fruit. I now do not believe you had friendly intentions in mind for me.I begin to feel better about the encounter- my new Mosin is slung on my back as I walk into the future... altimor 10 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Also, it's silly to think that a friendly player shouldn't be equipped for fights. Two magnums doesn't mean you're going to akimbo KoS some fools, it means you either hoard or are smart enough to have a backup in case one gets ruined by fire. Nicko2580 398 Posted March 1, 2014 Yeah you guys are just picking for pickings sake. Since when has handcuffs + rotten fruit + sack + full gear + clown mask ever equalled a friendly. Shit, I give every fucker a chance and even I would have shot that guy on sight.
Lord Ikka 25 Posted March 1, 2014 There is difference between being prepared and having only ammo (close to four hundred rounds of Mosin/Magnum) and bandit gear on your character. Just didn't feel right to me. When his hands dropped and he started moving/possibly equipping something- I was worried and shot first.
hells high 676 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Yeah, a zombie apocalypse where there are people running around killing eachother for sport and for sustenance, and just because I don't actively hunt people down I shouldn't carry a weapon or two. I also carry enough ammo to fill most of my inventory because I grow weary of axing zombies in the face, and want to actually use the weapons I have. Plus as a northern survivor you really only have to carry 1 or 2 pieces of food and drink on you at any time. I also carry a pair of handcuffs, should I happen upon someone that wants me dead and I end up incapacitating them, I can revive them, restrain them, hide their ammo, and be on my way. By the time they break free (or log off, as some uninformed ne'er-do-wells have) I'll be in the trees and on my way. Even carry a burlap sack (or rope, depending on which I find first) in the interim period because I like to craft the courier bag and go low profile. Point is, as always, its the attitude and the actions not the look or the equipment. Met plenty of military geared (even donning the dreaded gas mask! *gasp*) at military bases no less, whom peacefully exchanged hellos and even invited me to loot the base, before parting ways. If you feel threatened, shoot away without feeling bad; after all its a video game. Edited March 1, 2014 by Hells High

blissfulkunt 196 Posted March 1, 2014 I, for once, am I on OP's side... Based on what was said he was clearly a bandit... I can understand carrying something incase you want to "suicide" like a single piece of rotten fruit.. A payday mask alone is bandit attire. The guy clearly had bad intentions... Good job OP. kroms001 99 Posted March 1, 2014 I would have shot him as soon as he started drawing his weapon, I don't believe in KoS either but there are rules to meeting. If you are going to run up to a player saying "friendly," and that other player has his weapon out - you better make damn sure your weapon is not in your hands.
