Need Help With Error(Solved)

Recommended Posts

Hi I have been playing DayZ Standelone for quite some time now and recently my game closed when I went to start it up. I got the error:Device rest failed, error 8876086c, i fixed this by deleting the DayZ documents in my documents-dayzand it then redownloaded the files, however now whenever I alt tab in DayZ to record/pee/ect I receive this same error closing my game. Please Help!     EDIT:I do have windows 7

                               -Thanks Max

I did a quick Google search on "Device reset failed, error 8876086c" and apparently you are not alone.  What else have you done to the base config, are you running fps boost, or any other so called "tweaks"?

Try this if you haven't already. Right click on DayZ in your Steam library then select properties and click on the local files tab.  Once there, the last selection is "verify integrity of game cache", click on that and see what happens.

If this does not correct your issue  I would suggest that you go into the Windows Control Panel from the Start menu, select "System and Security", then "Action Center", then the last pick on the bottom right is "Restore your computer to an earlier time"  Select this and pick the date which proceeds your issues.  Let the utility complete the restoration and try again. Oh and stay off the porn sites...

I tried to verify integrity of game cache and it said please exit any games or tools when opening even though their all closed. I also don't want to restore cause I recently installed games and it said it will delete them and, I quite frankly have never tried this. I never look at porn sites so i don't know what that has to do with it either.

Sorry, the latter (porn) was a joke... The reality is that something has changed with your computers configuration.  The two options that I provided are the primary methods of getting you up an running again.  Not much else I can do from here.  My primary suggestions remain your best option short of having someone around locally that understands what they're doing.
