Blurry Graphics Glitch After Combat?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else running into this?  Like most, I have had to basically lower all my visual settings to get the game playable.  I am having a constant issue that is repeatable and can be duplicated.

Upon entering combat with a zombie or other player, once said enemy has been killed, my visuals get all blurry.  This is regardless of if enemy lands or does not land a hit on me.  When this happens, if I simply open the video configuration dialogue box, the picture immediately sharpens up when clicking on "Video" in settings.  I have to do this every time I am in combat with another player or mob.

Anyone else experiencing this or know of a fix?  Thanks.

I think its a bug, you can bypass this by disabling all the "post processing" effects.

Post processing effects are disabled.  Sorry for omitting that.  I followed several guides to get my FPS up to consistently above 50, and turning off post-processing was one of the suggestions.  Any other ideas?

It is not a bug. A blurry screen idicates that you are on low health.

Eat and drink until both your "Energized" and "Hydrated" indicators in your inventory turn bright-green. Then just wait for yout blood and health to regen.

Keep in mind it will take a while for your health to Regen because you must first be full on blood before you get a healing status. Blood loss - represented by loss of color     Health loss - represented by loss of clarity.

This is one thing i don't agree with.  My eyes are shit enough as they are without straining to see a screen that is blurred.

Loss of color is fine.  Blurred screen - stupid, and detrimental to your health.

Sorry guys - I am not "hurt" or injured, or anything.  This issue happens every time I am in combat with anything.  It also happens when I am both "hydrated" and "energized".  I am absolutely 100% sure that it is not related to sustaining injury, etc.  If it were, why would simply opening the video settings sharpen the image up?  Injury is not the issue here.  It is a graphical bug.

Not a bug, it signifies your current health. (not blood, well-being.), turn off post-processing.

My health is fine.  I don't understand, are people not reading the words on the screen?  I'm HEALTHY, and the mobs don't land any hits on me, and post processing is already OFF.  If this is truly a game design function, how does simply clicking on "Video" in "Configuration" sharpen up the screen?  I will try to record it and post if that would help.

So, what you're saying is, it always says "Healthy" in your inventory when you're experiencing this phenomenon? Is it something like a phenomenon?

I hate to say it - but that simply isn't the case.  If a zombie/player or what ever grazes me without any injury, and I am hydrated and energized - the effects do not go away at all.  This is always after combat.  I have seen a lot of people posting about this issue, and I don't understand what is causing it either.

Can you verify that it says 'Healthy' in your character screen? I wanna make sure of this because when I asked my friend who just started playing, 'are you healthy?', he assumed seeing energized/hydrated was what I meant, not the actual 'Healthy' status.

You need either 'Healing' to indicate health regeneration or just 'Healthy' for full health, which requires bright green energized/hydrated. You don't get a status for blood regeneration and full blood is required for health regeneration (blurriness is associated with low health as mentioned a few times).

If you are indeed healthy, I'm sorry then, never had this issue lol.

To the OP; I have a buddy that I play with that gets this same issue. & his isn't even after combat. His character will be absolutely tip-top & his screen becomes distrorted randomly. Going to the "configure" menu also resolves the issue for him. I can atleast confirm that you're not alone.

I can confirm that I am healthy.  But either way it's screwed up.  Let's assume you are all correct and that I am injured, and the game is running as intended.  Then there is a bug that allows you to clear that debuff by simply clicking the "Video" tab under "Configuration", because it instantly causes the blurriness to go away and the image to return to "normal".

But what I said first is accurate.  I will be running, screen is fine.  Character "hydrated" and "energized", not bleeding, not sick, etc. etc. and will enter combat.  The screen will get blurry, being hit or not hit by mom doesn't matter.  It is like the additional activity on the screen (fighting) causes a glitch (blurriness).  Esc->Configuration->Video and as soon as you click "Video" just to get into that settings box, the image instantly sharpens up back to "normal".  I'm telling ya i'm not crazy lol.

Thanks blunce for confirm.  Going to mess with it now more

Even if it doesn't say healthy, the serious blur and colour drain don't happen until you're pretty hurt. You can get smacked around a fair bit before the screen stays grey and blurry.

I get smacked by zombies and the screen goes grey and blurry for like, half a second and then it's back to normal. I would speculate that it's getting stuck at that 'hit' marker and not resetting to normal regardless of your current health status.

Bug report it if you haven't. Not much to do otherwise, except perhaps try a reinstall.

THIS!

Blurry screen is not a bug you nubs the blur is telling you 2 things.

1. You are in shock from combat.

2. You are injured and have low blood or health or both or just low health.

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY YOU NEED TO GET HEALTHY. This is a hardcore survival game there is no easy mode there is no hand holding. You do your research you use common sense and critical thinking and you will be fine.

Why? I am not allowed to respond to things or is nub to much of a no no word for your virgin eyes?

Also my point still stand its not a bug its his shock value. Another thing having your post processing up to high can cause things to be a bit to blurry far away. I always keep my setting at low or very low. That way my screen is not to blurry from post processing but I can still see when i am in shock or injured.

Because the OP has clearly said that he is HEALTHY when this is happening. Sometimes it happens without him even getting hit by anything.

You don't get serious screen blur and greyscale from one or two hits from a zombie - especially if you're even semi-geared.

Couple that with the fact that the effect disappears completely as soon as he opens his video options and you have what is clearly a bug, not a noob with no health.

Read my edited post above yours.

Yes you can get blurry from combat with zombies because of SHOCK. Shock values get applied randomly no set value for specific actions. Sometimes the sound of zombies can add enough shock value to push you into blurry when you enter combat. Getting in a gun fight is almost a guaranteed blurry screen especially if the bullets hit you. Shock has nothing to do with being healthy even the most gluttonous of us will get a blurry screen.

From what I've read, the blur from low health disappears when you go into video options. So, I don't think the fact that the blur in this case disappears when doing the same means anything noteworthy. Blur is a post processing effect, opening the options removes those, that tells us nothing about what causes this "bug".

OP has post processing turned off. The effect disappears completely after opening and closing the video settings, according to the OP. It doesn't just disappear while the options are open. He has to open and close them to continue playing normally.

A) If that's the case why don't we all experience this problem every time we get into combat as stated by the OP? I certainly don't get shock sized screen blur after every single encounter. And yes, I know how the shock mechanic works, thanks.

B ) Why does the effect disappear completely after opening and closing the video options?
