I bandaged you up. Figured there was no sense in eliminating you after an honorable fight.

Hrm. I'm willing to lose my character on 3PP.

We talkin' a defined zone where I should be lookin' like elctro or berez?

Or the whole map and we huntin' each other down kind of deal?

Indeed he did. Sorry, all that buildup for such a quick result. My heart was racing the whole time though.

Same here. Short and sweet, but worth it. We both got a rush, and I guess you now get to have fun replacing all the ruined stuff in your shirt and backpack... :D

I will return shortly to regail forum goers with a detailed account of my perspective. Now that I have money, I really should consider getting me some frapps....

Here's my account:

I think he was pretty close, before I breached the wall I heard a noise, that really faint sound a mosin makes when someone's scoping around. I moved prone past that area hoping to not make noise. There was very little cover in the area. After I breached I crossed to move to a small group of pines where I could remain hidden for awhile and see if I could spot him. I had an M4 so a prolonged sniper contest would not have worked in my favor. I didn't make it to the pines though. The shot, and there was only one, was damn loud.

Ok, so here's how it went down from my perspective:

http://dayzdb.com/map#set=15057

After coming back from our mutual smoke break, I was in the general vicinity of the red circle. I checked the forums, saw that Black Dynamite (hence forward B.D.) was also back. I started slowly making my way, from tree to tree, using cover and concealment towards the next point,  the blue circle (at all times I had my mosin out, and raised, and was at all times in 1stPP, despite my server currently being set to regular). About halfway to point blue, I checked the forums again to see if B.D. had responded with an ETA. I saw that he had, saying he was close enough to stop checking the forums until we were done. Likewise, I closed the browser down, and proceeded with the hunt.

Continuing to move from tree to tree, never running unless I needed to clear a large open space quickly, otherwise moving slowly, and stopping frequently, I continued to move towards point blue. Along the way, I was constantly checking my 3 o'clock and my 6. At the time, I was expecting that I would most likely find him moving between the buildings on the other side, or to come towards me from the rear, using the trees as I was. My intent was to move around the back of the tarmac, and attempt to sneak around to the other side with all the buildings, and continue to search for him there. Once I had arrived at point blue, I stopped for a few moments, and then made a rush to the back of the two large, double door warehouse buildings nearby.

From there, I proceeded into the tree line opposite the warehouses, and resumed my slow pace, moving from tree to tree. Eventually I arrived at point green (roughly). At that time, I took a moment to plan my next move, while continuing to scan about for my prey, when I finally saw him: There he was, directly across the open field from my position, running nearby the wall on the other side of the open field, moving towards the tents. I immediately ducked behind the nearest tree, then leaned out. With my rifle now ADS'ed, I followed him with my sights (zeroed to one hundred, aiming slightly high to compensate for the actual distance being closer to 150m (using the map just now, I see that my estimate was on the money: actual distance was 145m)) as he moved along the wall, passing behind trees and bushes. I picked a spot further ahead, where I could see he was headed, and that was in the open, and waited. A few moments later, he began to cross the small gap I had chosen between the trees, and I fired.

He continued to move a few meters further, then stopped behind some bushes. At that point, I fired 3 more shots into the spot where I thought he was. With only one shot left in the mosin, I put myself into my opponent's head for a moment: "He knows I have a mosin, which means he will assume I have 5 shots before needing to reload. He might therefore wait for me to fire the 5th shot before making a move, knowing that I will need to reload at that point."

So, I reloaded then and there, ejecting my last round, and loading a fresh set of 5. At this point I continued to observe. Seeing no movement for several moments, I began to think that he might either be dead/unconscious, OR he might have managed to crawl to a different position. I decided then that further shots might give away my position even further, assuming I wasn't already totally compromised. So I went prone and crawled further along the tree line, in the direction of the tents. I then made my way (still crawling) to a clump of bushes out in the field, all along the way utilizing the curvature of the terrain to gain the most cover and concealment possible. Halfway to the bushes, a zombie attacked me, having made no noise on its approach. I turned and shot him, then moved to a crouch and rushed the rest of the way to the bushes. Once there, I put away my mosin, trading it for my FNx45, deciding that if he was still in the same place where I last saw him, and due to my closer proximity to that spot, I might need to be able to put more rounds down range more quickly. I stayed there for several moments, seeing no movement in any direction.

At this point, I Alt Tabbed and checked the forums. As I pulled up the thread, the first thing I read from B.D. was "G.G".

Reading that he was unconscious, I decided to do the honorable thing, and patched him up. I perused his gear, but only out of curiosity, rather than to take anything from him. Based on the ruined items, it would seem I had shot him center mass, in the chest, like any good Marine should do. Once he had regained consciousness, we waved and parted ways.

All things said and done, it was fast, fun, and intense. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and will likely be issuing more challenges in the future.

GG B.D., GG....

:o So I DID get you with that first shot!

Lol. One shot, one kill.

Btw, what do you mean "faint sound" a mosin makes when someone's scoping around????

What I find funny is that the most intense part for me, was AFTER I had already dropped him, and not knowing that he was down. It took several minutes of intense, heart pounding moments and panicked movement before I finally realized that I HAD in fact won the duel...

there should be a Channel/Chatroom dedicated to community meetups/Challenges like this.

Clever idea to break the late night monotony, and well played. Nice touch to bandage him up and send him on his way. Even as a KoSer, I respect that decision.

I like this idea, you guys should have met at the middle of the airstrip, dropped all the food and canteens( to avoid ruining it in the gun fight, so it can be the winners prize) and then started at opposite sides. bandaging him and patching him up was a classy move tho. Kudos
