LOL at those who think

Recommended Posts

that more zombies are going to reduce KoS.

I was being chased by about 6-8 zombies and I was taking them on with my bat, but more just kept on crawling out of the wood work(respawning). As i'm slaying zombies I hear over the mic in a non-chalant voice "Whatcha' doin'?". Before I could even turn around to see since I was in the throng of several zombies. All I hear is PEW... you are dead.

So, LOL at you all you think that more zombies is going to reduce KoS.

It will once MORE zombies do start spawning and when they start spawning next to people camping to snipe new spawns.

nope. more zombies wont change KOS.

More dangerous, AND more numerous zombies, along with more content, options, and reasons for cooperation, will. But nothing will ever get rid of it completely. As it should be....

This just frustrated me the most out of any death I had.

I had literally nothing but the baseball because it was all I could find, and I wanted to test the new melee animations and zombie respawns. Btw, the spawn really quick now, and the baseball bat sucks.

But eugh. He saw I was there and had the nerve to say that to me and just shot me for lulz.

Ah fuck it. Back to testing with other melee that I can find.

Nothing will get rid of KOS except a players mindset.

Ancient topic is ancient.

Would be cool if the game could have some sort of PvE setting though, but I'm guessing that's useless atm when there's not enough types of zombies around or other PvE challenges. But I'd love to see some kind of function that allows you to start the game as PvE and then, once you've gotten up to a certain point, you can choose to go PvP. Once you choose PvP, you won't be able to go back to PvE unless you go to some safehouse or whatever and also while being in PvE, going into PvP should make you vulnerable for 5 minutes or so, to prevent exploits.

Sure, nothing will change the KOS mindset of a lot of players but it will be more of a challenge once there are more zombies and they start spawning near the people who love to sit in one spot for hours and snipe people.  You won't be able to just chill on a mountain or rooftop all day long like you can now.

KoS is fine tho, i imagine people competing for the resources in cities.. when hunting and stuff is there, people that dont want to risk getting KoS can just stay up the hills, and go to towns less often, coming down into towns only to get some more ammo

Yes, KOS is fine and I encourage it people to play however they want.  I don't think it will be as common as it is now once there is more to do, though.  Right now, there is nothing to do in the game besides kill other players for fun and worship the devil in empty churches.

I'm completely against this direction. The game is PvPvE and this is what makes it unique. You can't go into some PvE/aka. "Protected" mode and switch between when you want to go pew pew.

Dear God, I can't imagine all the hoarding that would happen...

more zombies won't reduce KOS

But tougher zombies they do far more damage and actually path find will encourage people to work together

In the mod, the dayz+ version made zombies kill you in a couple of hits and there were far more

I met hardly any hostiles in there because people needed help just getting away from the coast and couldn't do it alone

If Zombies were tough to kill , killed you in a few hits, chased you everywhere and came upstairs and climbed ladders you would see far less snipers on rooftops and less people running and gunning in elektro

For those that say you wouldn't, that's fine if you enjoy hours of gearing up and sneaking past hordes to get a rifle only to get mobbed the first player you KOS and have 30 zombies relentlessly chasing you

But yeah, that will never happen, I doubt they will ever be a challenge

More zombies will just result in people complaining about the janky crap.

More zombies will just result in player frustration and anger.

You know what might actually stop kos ?

Making your life valuable and having a reason to live and stay alive.

I think this can be achieved with player made bases and shelters. Base building will go a long way towards forcing people to think before they fire on another person.

With player bases, private hives you need to think before you fire, you must ask yourself do I really want to make enemies with these guys who also have a base nearby, do I want them to come here and raid my house forcing me to start from scratch again.

What worries me are the mindsets of people who don't value their life in game, even remotely, and simply want to ruin people's enjoyment in a fashion this game wasn't aiming for. I'm not talking about KOS, but I worry that if zombies ever become such a giant problem that people will use the zombie mechanic to suicide, yet lead a trail of zombies to grounds who are stealthily navigating through a city.

Sometimes I sit for HOURS with friends in the Cherno south hospital just sniping other geared players because, well, it's entertaining and it usually leads to a ton of people showing up and we have crazy city fights. This won't be as simple once zombies start swarming everywhere and can overrun our camp spots after we pop off some shots, and that's fine.

But the people who kill simply because they enjoy making others rage? My guess is we're going to see naked bambis with 20+ zombies kite tailing behind them to csuse them to aggro survivor groups. . . Mark my words!!!

As long as one can manage even a relative large horde alone the pressure will be not be high enough to rather team up. But yeah, no amount of zeds will make players not be stupid dicks.

They will not start spawning next to players. Rocket went with a more realistic approach of spawning them outside  of a town this time

The problem was that the zombies were chasing you, not him.

I was in a building actually.

They just kept streaming in, through the door, through the walls everywhere. It was hilariously fun. Until he showed up just to ruin it. :|

well when they make ammo less abundant, and zombies possibly even more plentiful, now hes in trouble because he has all the zombies you had on you a second ago

We've had this conversation before :) ...but anyway, why will this one thing make KOS less ?

You state because the guys across from you will have a base as well..so you won't want to get into a pew pew because they may come pew pew you and possibly destroy your base ?

Let me mull this over as it stands now.

Have a char, takes a little while to get kitted..sometimes a good chunk of hours because the server is looted and what not, you glitched and died, you got shot..whatever. Lets say, four hour average, fully geared. Nothing to do. PvE sucks..zombies are janky, go shoot bambis.

Have a base, take what..twenty hours to build ? 1pp, because we like a challenge at least :) Dude over the road has a base. No PvP with him because too scared to loose base. Put some furniture and pretties in base. Don't want to lose base and start again.

The thing so many people miss so easily.

Char is base.

let me quote you...

Making your life valuable and having a reason to live and stay alive.

 Char is base. :)

Of course it would also be cool to build shit,  hey..i'm a male, building stuff is like ..male dna shit dude. But getting all neighbourly with old mate and his base so we don't poke guns into each others faces and stuff is going to make me care about my char more ?

Not a chance.

Bunch of dudes setting up camp near me is gonna make me wanna kick them fuckers out of my area, not have a tea party and pass cakes with sprinkles.

I don't see how not attacking someone else's base that they have spent time on is any different to not attacking some random guy with gear that they have spent time on.

Tl;dr

KoS..all your base are belong to us.

So what ?

Read: GROUPS will always prevail, no matter if they KoS for this or that reason. Z-kiters won't change the status quo.

The result will be the same. Bambi dies, group fights the zombie horde and moves out of town. Group has less ammo now but still the power to make the bambi cry.

In the end of the reasoning what must be valuable is TIME spent on activities. Once more organized mechanics come in, read bases, tons of craftable items, vehicle maintenance, then we can value TIME spent on searching for items and supplies and even groups get organized to provide each other support in various forms.

The individual can only survive as much as the next encounter.

Kiting will make no difference. It is just another twisted way of an individual trying to change the world.

KOS is a mindset and has absolutely nothing to do with zombies, game mechanics, or boredom. No matter what they add, or change, KOS will remain...as it should. Without those out there making our lives hell and keeping us on our toes, this game would stagnate. As much as I hate getting shot unaware, I would hate even more to have absolutely no reason to watch my back or feel that spike of adrenaline when approaching a town with open doors.

6-8 zombies constantly flooding through the doors one after the other, when 1 dies, another re-spawned to take it's place to come eat me.

They re-spawned really close and just kept on coming. It was wave after wave after wave. I was having a blast killing them. Like in my post that I said, he came up to me, said "Whatchu' doin'?" then shot me.

The whole point of the post was even though people say zombies are going to stop KoS. It isn't. People kill people for the lulz.

Also refrain from tellling me to "GTFO" because my opinion on the zombie matter is that it won't change a got-damn thang.

KOS will always be a thing, though the OP's example isn't a KOS situation.  The person clearly made contact prior to shooting!

But really, more zombies will make it more risky to get into a gun fight in the middle of a city.
