Positive Experiences

Recommended Posts

Maybe it's a product of the servers I play on, or maybe it's my play style or maybe I just have a trustworthy voice but I am finding it hard to have a negative player interaction as described by a huge number of threads on this forum.

I am usually kitted in military gear (aside from a helmet or mask. I like a beret and sunglasses :) ) and have my weapon in my hands 99% of the time. I am always moving cautiously. Crouched and usually pretty slowly, even out in the middle of nowhere. You could certainly think, if seeing me, that I was stalking something 90% of the time. Yet I still seem to attract nice players!

So far in 50 hours or so of play, I've been KoSed a grand total of 3 times. The first was in an airfield so that hardly counts, the second I was ambushed by 4 bandits so okay, fair enough. The third is the only one I'd consider true KoS and that was being shot from across a field when I clearly was a Bambi with not even a melee weapon or can of beans to my name.

Every other time I've come across a player, geared or bambi, weapons drawn or not, in the city or out in the sticks, it's resulted in a positive experience. I've helped a bambi with antibiotics and food, given bambi's pistols with ammo and ammo for the weapons they were carrying without them turning on me. Given them melee weapons. I've traded military equipment with geared players in the NWAF and Vybor military bases. Bodyguarded Bambi's on the coast. Travelled with randoms and helped them scavenge. Saved one guy from a horde of zombies (4 zombies constitutes a horde in DayZ :P ). I've yet to have to use the handcuffs I'm always carrying and yet to have to shoot someone in close proximity who hasn't shot at me first. Most of these encounters have not been initiated by me either. More than a few of these players have had a shotgun pointed up their nostril for a few minutes because they surprised me, before I was happy they weren't a threat. Perhaps that's the reason?

So I am at a loss to explain these negative experiences that everyone seems to have so often. Anyone else have mostly positive player interactions so far?

Finally a reasonable friendly....

Can you please explain this to all your buddies so we can stop the 20 KOS threads a day?

One of the funniest adventures I had was with these two guys I bumped into who were roleplaying as Knights.
I swear, it was something straight out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They even made clacking noises as if they were on horseback when they ran off.
Pretty funny.

Another positive interaction was when someone starving to death but didn't have a gun noticed I had a B95. He had ammo for it, traded it, and said "I'm trusting you not to shoot me."
Part of me died inside, as I did not pull the trigger on him. We both walked away from encounter alive.

The third hilarious semi-positive encounter I've had recently was in Cherno. I had a green motorbike helmet and the thing saved my life. I was sniped..and went unconscious. When my character woke up she was laying down in a field with a couple other bodies nearby.. It sounded like the gunfight was still going, so I got up and ran into the city for better cover. My moto helmet was ruined. <.<

I came across these two gentlemen by Berezino.

They were just crawling around and then decided to attack me....while crawling...they just crawled at me yelling that I was a dead man etc

Then One of them punched the other one out...and then Grimey Rick murdered them both from the warehouse window.

Good times

I somehow glitched onto the shipwreck with nothing but briefs and a wife beater. Also managed to break my leg when teleported... I looked below, to suicide jump, and saw three dudes unawares of me. I jumped at them... it was hilarious. Everyone laughed.

I fell off a construction site cos I wasn't paying attention, and respawned as a girl in Kamenka?

As I was looking around trying to decide where to go a guy come crawling down the street towards me having broken his legs on the stairs. Exact details escape me but he wanted to eat me out, I ended up taking my pants off so he could eat me out,  (twist:I had my period) after he was done his last meal I graciously beat him to death bare knuckle, before jumping off the roof of the new police station to respawn as a guy.

 I'm not sure that counts as a positive experience for anyone involved!  :P

... unless we're talking HIV+...

oh... Well I have given a few new spawns my M4 didn't get shot in the back once from that, I've found trying to help people is interesting most players aren't really in need of help and know what they are doing.  One guy I recently tried to help I didn't have what I needed to wake him up, I felt bad as I was the one who shot him.  I've given a few people food and directions but find that just getting in a group and having people to run with for a while is the most positive experiences I've had playing DayZ.
