How does playing with players in different areas work?

When we log into Dayz we choose servers that are close to home, right? Servers with low ping. So how would you play with someone in a different state, country, or maybe even continent than you? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new here...

Compromise. When I played with Swedish people we ended up playing on Dutch servers.

They must be living out in the woods then, i can connect to even east coast US servers and only get about 80-90 in ping...

But i agree, compromise, find a server with good enough ping for all the people you play with.

But 80-90 ping is pointless when had the option of getting more like 19. Thankfully Dutch people are bros and tend to speak good English too.

I used to play a lot with canadians and americans, so 80-90 ping on pretty much any east coast/mid-west server is quite good actually.

I'm usually at about 15-35 ping on any european servers, sometimes i have better ping to the server than locals connecting to it.

Good thing about the engine is that it has great lag compensation, besides the occasional desync, otherwise you won't notice someone lagging unless they're running with 200+ ping or they're desyncing really badly.

I can hit either coast, and some Canadian servers. Euro or further is out of the question though. So that's about the "range" best as I can tell unless you have google for your ISP.

Well i usually play on german servers but last night i connected to some east coast servers.

Had no problem with the ping (between 50-80).

(In central europe i have about a 20-30 ping)

I get the worst ping (i was just interessted) on asian servers.

Its unplayable most times on asian servers because of the ping.
