Stabbed in the face with the screwdriver I gave out LOL

Recommended Posts

So there I was, running along the main road heading to Chernogorsk.  My character in game relishing the fact that on his travels he had found food, water an axe, a screwdriver and a nice pristine shotgun with no ammo.  He also was dawning his motorcycle helmet like a true zombie apocalypse survivor.  I checked behind me, knowing that the roads were not a good place to be and noticed a newly spawned player trying to catch up to me.  I waited.

In secondary chat he said, "Hello," and naturally I said hello back to him.

"Anything you can spare?" he asked.

I felt a little bad, "I can give you this screwdriver and a can of beans," I said looking in my inventory.  I generously gave him those items.

"Thanks!" he replied (most likely with an evil smirk)

Not a second later I was being stabbed in the face with my screwdriver.  I quickly smashed the "esc" button on my keyboard and armed my axe while trying to back up.  He came at me again and got an axe to the skull.  I looted him, the beans were ruined but my screwdriver survived.

When these veterans tell you to stay off the road, stay off the f'ing road.  When these vets tell you not to trust anyone (if playing alone) - steer clear of anyone/everyone.  I seriously love this game.  It has so much potential.  Listen to the vets people.

If they ask you for supplies/items it's most likely a trap/ulterior motives.

This is what i do in these scenarios.

Random guy 1 runs up to me asks for stuff, he gets shot in the face.

Random guy 2 runs past me because he sees me, i yell out to him, give him stuff and let him be on his way.

dont use esc use your hot bar to pull your axe out set weapons to the first few keys 1,2,3 depending on what how many you have keep axe in hand if you feel the need to offer help to those begging but honestly unless your trying to make a team mate dont bother keep on running if he follows axe him.

If you are trying to make him a team mate well then the decisions just got alot harder and only experience will fix that ( even then its a gamble...

Edit welcome to Dayz ps dont go shouting friendly its a noob thing to do and generally gets you shot if you communicate sound confident and reasuring not weak by going i am friendly dont shoot, a weak player is no use to anyone...

This is the thing about "/" side chat - it is a trick to get the player to be in a "typed" session.  Lots of people don't know how to get out of it.  You have to "esc" (or was it "~"?) to get out of that while they are stabbing you in the face ;)

I have all my weapons on my hot bar, axe is always "1" - so I smashed "esc" (or ~) to get out of side chat and pressed "1" while backing away from his attack and axed him.

I don't want to be a KOS player, I stay away from people because I like playing solo.  Eventually when all of my skills are honed I am going to get a few friends to team up with.

Ah missed you had been typing best tip ever never type to talk get a mic will save your life and id just hit enter to finish what i was typing ( although i never type you cant run your dead meat....

That and guys like me who do play sort of friendly , i stalk and when i have advantage i declare myself chat and decide what sort of player you are if you have no mic its a shoot in the head for me no mic means no interaction which means your here to kill so i do it first...
