Did they fix the long loading time and give ability to pick spawn point?

Recommended Posts

1. Did they fix the long loading time after you die?

2. Can you choose your spawn point after you die? I remember it taking forever to team up with my friends again.  I'm not expecting a million different spawn points, just major towns maybe so I can get back to my team within 15 minutes, is that okay?

3. Do they have dedicated servers?

4. Did they eliminate all the hackers or do people still cheat?

Thanks! I really hope they fix the above issues. The above reasons are the only reason I stopped playing the mod version.

Pick spawn points? Man, I'd love to win a gun fight and get punched to death after killing the last guy, by the first guy I killed.

By picking spawn points I mean being able to choose like 5 locations, not click right next to the player that killed me lol. COME ON MAN.

If I die and it takes 45 minutes to run to my friend who survived that will kill the entire night of gaming with my friends.  A lot of my friends only have 4-5 hours to play on the weekends so if it takes 1 hour just to run back to my buddy then the game isn't casual friendly TIMEWISE.

If I could choose a spawn point and it only takes like 15 minutes to get back to my friend that would be optimal.

From the network security perspective I couldn't disagree more. Update signing, system signatures, and admin level RAM monitoring (like VAC) you can definitely stamp out cheating. Game programmers and NSPs don't get along because there's just no crossover between the two disciplines. Game programmers do not write hardend code, use interpretive languages and do all other manner of questionable practices that create these problems. You could definitely harden it by re-writing the client, shoring up BE, and avoiding interpretative languages. Also force ASLR, and ban clients for using unsecured platforms like Windows XP that don't support ASLR (better yet, just ban 32bit systems altogether and force native 64bit). It's not impossible to secure, it's just more effort and completely different set of skills than actually producing a game.

Unfortunately, gun fights in this can last an incredibly long time. Even 15 minutes is enough time to keep someone in a standoff, have you run back to your body, regear, and re-enter the fight. It happened a bunch of time when we got ambushed in Kamyshovo. It was 3 against 7, and every time we killed someone, or a few of them, they would camp and wait for their buddies to run back from Solnichni and get their bodies back. It made the fight incredibly stupid, especially if they spawned back in Kamy.

I see, so basically it's the same as before where you just keep dying until you respawn somewhere close to your friends?

Is the level of cheating the same as it was 1 year ago or has it gotten better?

Ok, I just read a lot of posts here on the forum.  It seems the game is ready for "hardcore" players in its alpha state but for casual players it's not even close.  I'm going to buy it but all my friends will wait until the game is released.

It's fine I didn't understand half of that post... :P But surely, we all get the point.

The game is about PERMADEATH. Anything that will help you to be certain about something (like knowing that if I die I can easily spawn in Balota and quickly gear up) will destroy that uncertainty feeling. You died when you were hanging out with your friends? What a shame. And it is your punishment for not being careful enough - that random spawn, that running to be with them again. It's all about this game is.

Oh, and no, they haven't fixed tents yet and there are still no vehicles in game.

Just remember that fun factor is important too, let's say you go to your buddies house and you're both playing Dayz.  Should it always take 45 minutes just to meet up with your friend? Something to think about, i'm not sure what the solution is.  if Dayz is only meant for hardcore gamers with 8 hours to spare then I guess that's the way it is?

Thanks! I really hope they fix the above issues. The above reasons are the only reason I stopped playing the mod version.

1. I haven't died yet.. cant say

2. Not yet.. if they offer mod support soon, which Dean said is a top priority. Then someone will create a version with spawn points. Its been in before. But also.. it really only takes about 15 mins to run to just about any location from just about any spawn in SA. Just sprint there and it really does not take that long.

3.No dedicated servers yet.. again, mod support inbound.

4. You can never eliminate all hackers.. its a fact of life. But its much more rare since around mid-jan when B.E. detected a script injector that was being given away online that so many little hackers were using. Now anyone that hacks still faces a global BE ban, which is quite horrible if you're not a pro hacker and most are not and they have to pay for or create their own script injector and that is not easy or expensive.

i died and my friend said he would only play if i ran back to balota where he was and where i originally died at. i ran from berizino to kemenka then up to the military camp and got loaded and ran back to balota in under a hour

No, because that fight was in Kamyshovo, near the hub of spawns. If you could pick your spawns, it means this would happen anywhere and everywhere. Currently, if we get into a big gun battle up North, this is never a problem, or Balota.

Fights in Elektro, Berenzino and Kamyshovo always results in never ending waves of bambi reinforcements.
