Normal servers and Hardcore - Gear transfer?

Now, I did do my best to look for this answer and maybe I didn't look well enough so here it goes.

 

I have a character on a Normal server that has decent gear.  If I wanted to try a Hardcore server, does my gear come with or am I a new spawn?

 

Also, if I were to gear up on a Hardcore server and went back to my Normal server, would my gear be unaffected on the Normal server and vice - versa?

 

Im not trying to be a "server hopper" I just wanted to have a character on a Hardcore and Normal server without it affecting one or the other.

You have a different character on Regular than you do on hardcore, They share nothing.

Essentially, you can have two fully geared characters. Four if you play on the experimental.
