No message from server since 1..2..3..4.. seconds whats the meaning?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, a quick question: what does that mean, when the server gives no message (for 1..2..3..4..and so on seconds). It comes right after that red sign of a chain. Does it mean that I lost my connection or the server restarts or just general server issues? Thx ;)

ed: And when it restarts, can I just stay in game and wait so that I will be respawned after the server restarted or do I have to logout when that message comes?

In regular ArmA, it means that you have lost connection to the host, and your client is trying to get connected again.

In DayZ, I think you'll always have a red chain at the beginning, as you have to sync with the server. The "no message received" error however probably means you lost connection or - indeed - the server's readying to restart.

Ok, thx for the answers.

When it restarts, do I have to logout then or can I just wait until it restarted (I spawn after the restart normally on that server again)?

You'll be logged out after 90s of no connection. It's unlikely that a server would fully restart and be up and running before that time runs out, but it's possible. I've certainly had the RED CHAIN OF DEATH (and disconnection) appear and disappear after 50s or so, although I do not know if that was caused by a restart or not. More likely than not though, you'll be logged out at 90s. You should be able to join another server with no login time penalty, although that's been a little buggy of late.

What does the broken red/yellow chain mean when it doesn't have the server reset timer? I've heard that it can sometimes be used as an indicator of someone spawning, but not always. Is that correct?

It means your client is disagreeing with the server about whats going on. AKA Desync.

Usually it indicates a issue with connection at some point.
