Multiple Steam accounts

Recommended Posts

OK, that's not working....

So back a couple years ago, I had a windows XP machine.

On that machine, I created two accounts.

I created two steam accounts (well, a second one).

I bought two copies of Arma II and set up two copies of Dayz Mod.

I could then log into one windows+steam account and play as one character, and log into my other windows+steam account and play as another character.

This was great as I played with some other people and I could have one character for group play and one for solo when no one was around.

I recently tried to resurrect this model on my Windows 8 machine and it's not working.

I have two separate sets of serial keys active on the two separate Steam accounts, and log into two separate Windows accounts. They are on the same computer.

In each case, I am getting the same character.

Has anyone successfully done this?

its because of the registry that holds your cd key is shared on win vista +

you need to either revalidate and start the game on the key you want to use each time you switch this will insert the key into the registry

or

export the registry file for each key and then reimport it when you want to switch

the second way you dont have to switch steam accounts to change characters

Thanks. What a pain.

Much easier on XP.

Easy enough to make a couple .reg files I suppose.
