Add Skills to the game

I think the slow passive craft skill system that Dean described would be great. It would give other players possible goals without being game breaking. I DON'T think that any skills should be added that effect combat in any way. You'd really have the metagamers screwing that up.

skills would make the charackter to a demigod.

but how about a freshspawn talent that you can choose together with a little backstory.

for example: your charackter was a police officer.so you can shoot better,handcuff a guy quiker.

or your charackter was a doctor.so your salin bag gives more blood.

 

with one speacial talent you have something what other players can lose when they kill you ;)

Non-combat increases through usage don't bother me. If combat or gun usage becomes skill based, anyone I see with a gun will be shot.

There should be skills in the game but no progress bars. They shouldn't have skills for gun accuracy, that should be determined by the players actual playing ability.

 

Skills like getting better at repairing items the more you do it or crafting better items.

Reloading faster

Cooking better meals the more you cook.

Better at resisting shock or pain the more you experience it

If instruments are added, you get better at those the more you play.

Once more gameplay elements are implemented we can come up with probably endless ideas like this.

 

Although I don't think these ideas are enough, i think they are on the right step in order the make characters worth more to players than gear.

Any skill system will be abused to get the best build. It's that simple.

DayZ does not need skills or to become another generic MMO.

The reason this thread exists is not because i want skills so hardly to get introduced its here to show a solution for that "if i lose my gear= the same as i die" problem
