Multi-function Stance Key

Recommended Posts

I'd like it if they added a multi-function stance key like some other game have. Keep the current stance buttons too for those that prefer it that way.

when pressed it would do this:

standing goes to crouch

crouch goes to standing

prone goes to crouch

when held it does this:

standing goes to prone

crouch goes to prone

If they were to impliment the Arma 3 Stances, this would take the game to a whole new level. I really wish they would, seeing as it actually made looking around objects viable.

Wow, that is a lot of stances. I'm not sure I need that many. I would like a single key to be able to switch between the 3 current ones though.

AsOIX has a good idea. It would take gameplay to a whole new level.

I like the stance thing and would enjoy to vary my stance like holding 'C' and roll mousewheel up/down to adjust your stance

I use crouch when shooting in grass.

I'm not opposed to the addition of new stances but I'm totally okay with just prone, crouching and standing.

Unless they add new stances I would like a multi-function key for easier switching between stances.

Regular people don't use military stances...anyway I'm pretty pleased with the current system

These stances aren't even military. They're multi purpose stances. Half of the objects you cannot see over in DayZ, so why not adjust accordingly? Its a great idea to impliment that from Arma 3. Would completely change everything. And also, you hold one button in Arma to change stances, and scroll I believe.

These stances are great and easy to use in Arma 3, you can always skip using these new stances and keep with the standard stances if you don't like it.

Yea I honestly don't need any extra stances but if it wasn't goin to impede on the old way of crouching proning and standing I'd be all for it cuz it does seem interesting (the whole hold down "c" and use mouse wheel thin ).

This really does need to be noticed more in my opinion. It adds so much more depth to combat.

Believe me, when you have all those stances you'll find you need them! And more besides.

You guys should make a new thread for the addition of extra stances. This thread was meant to be about implementing a single key to toggle between stances.

Or you could take the suggestions that add on to/alter your idea and debate them.  If you just wanted beans for your idea with no suggestions aloud, I guess you should have said that.

-1 beans sir.

I love the Arma 3 stances idea - as others have said not quite sure if we need that many stances, but love the idea of the smoother transitioning.  And yes OP, holding the button should indeed provide smoother transition animations going straight from one to another, while tapping the button allows for a single change.

I could care less about beans. I post suggestions because I want to see them in the game.

The reason I'm saying you should make a new thread for the arma 3 stances is because I believe that idea will get more attention from doing so and possibly get added. Less people are likely to come to this thread looking for that topic since the OP was about something different.

Also if you scroll up you can see that I have already added my two sense about the arma 3 stances.

Wow, I never knew I'd need military training to adjust my stance and how my feet are positioned. This really opens up my eyes! -.-

This one sounded like you're shooing people out, and seems easily misinterpreted to me:

This one is a good point:

Everyone following the discussion will get it, but any devs browsing by topic titles will probably miss it if this one didn't seem useful.

Back on topic: I liked the idea of holding C and using the mousewheel to fine tune stances over cycling by button click.  It's easy to get caught up in the action, hold the key for just not long enough and cycle in the wrong direction.  Plus with the scroll up/down, you don't have that waiting period where the game is literally just waiting to make sure you wanted to go to prone instead of crouch.  Maybe more of an issue with faster-paced games like BF or CoD, but perma-death does amp up the adrenaline on "minor" encounters.

This was a side point, but if there's another stance switching mechanic added, I do think keeping the straight to stance buttons is essential.  Sometimes you know exactly what you want, and I don't want "ease into prone" when I mean "hit the deck!"

First off, we do need the multi-function stance change key. Press (key) crouch, Hold (key) go prone or prone

I also do like the idea of more stances. I'm not sure how they implemented it in ArmA3, but It seems pretty legit

Uh, I remember a while back they said it can't be done. I could be wrong, but it has something to do with skeletal structure or something like that. Can't find the source atm.

But it would be wicked fucking cool to have different stances.

Maybe you get this special button, but i thinks more of gamble when situation develops out of control.

That holding down button will likely delay your prone by second at least, enough to get you killed

and if you release it too early you might end up standing out of cover.

There is nothing wrong with current stance buttons, if anything the arma 3 stance bind would be better then this suggestion.

Ctrl + W = one stance up & Ctrl + S = one stance down, but it still needs the regular buttons to quickly prone. If there is

"stance up/down"  key in the options then you can already do it.

These stances aren't even military. They're multi purpose stances. Half of the objects you cannot see over in DayZ, so why not adjust accordingly? Its a great idea to impliment that from Arma 3. They are military stances, the whole body positioning, walking, running and aiming are part of military conditioning.

It may seem like regular stances, but there is knowledge that goes in those positionings to improve performance.

Unless you have actually being in military service i would advice you to shush. I for one have never seen

any regular civilians doing these stances anywhere, not even in paintball or airsoft.

Im guessing you don't even know how to position yourselves while proning on the ground, so you can breath well.
