Backpack Item Damage

This is a question for anyone who knows the answer. I was at Balota with my trusty sniper Mosin when a man comes onto the airfield and begins shooting at a bambi that ran up to him. I shot him in the back and went to loot his body. He had a Hunter Backpack and i was expecting everything to be ruined because i shot him near the middle of the backpack. When i checked his loot i found that the top half of the items in the backpack were ruined while everything in the bottom wasnt hurt by the bullet. Is this just a damage glitch or is it supposed to work that way? If it's feature thats awesome :D If it's a glitch then oh well :P

I believe its a feature.

I experienced something similar. 

 

Everyone I had to shoot had some nearby slots ruined and the rest pristine, or scratched to badly damaged.

I was shot in my pristine Black UK Assault Vest and it was ruined but some of the stuff inside it was merely damaged. God I love people I know when they accidentally shoot me.

Hopefully in the future this obnoxious feature will be nerfed slightly.

 

It's ridiculous that one bullet can ruin everything in the Assault vest, shirt, and backpack all at once. 

 

But that's just me

 

and yes, I have also experienced "localized"  damage in item slots

Haha yeah a friend of mine shot me twice lol he is pretty new to this game.

There was a Zed coming towards and I was totally relaxed but he freaked out...

End of story was that he missed me and he hit me with his shotgun in my Backpack haha, though I survived only half of my items were ruined.
