FEEDBACK: Humanity - heartbeart.

It will absolutely drive you crazy to be in a group of 2-3 people having the heartbeat.

I found it to be a cool feature at first. But its annoying as hell in the long run when you have to listen to it. Especially if you have someone that has 7-8 murders (Most in self defense even, long fight in cherno), its no longer a heart beat its a drum.

Please revise.

Yeah I killed a couple of guys covering my team mates and i have a heartbeat already. I thought it was only for major PKers ? Griefers essentially.

I only hear the heartbeat when I scroll over the players... I had 6 kills on me and didn't hear anything at all ever.

You won't hear your own heartbeat.

And the problems i describe is when you play in groups with other people that have the heartbeat.

I understand that the hearbeat was implemented as a subtle way of telling bandits apart from survivors. I just want to say that

when there are groups of bandits this is really not subtle at all, it breaks immersion and it also breaks my ability to focus on the game and have fun. Its that distracting

i think it should be removed completely. there should be no definition between survivors and bandits at all.. if this game ever gets to the point that you can customize your appearance, then bandits will probably make themselves look like bandits.

other than that, any system like this removes the human element from the game, and is, in short; lame...

Ok, riddle me this:

Myself and a buddy FINALLY managed to get together and go inland last night. We heard a few shots in the distance and saw a player who was a bit below us go round the edge of the mountain we were on but he was making a beeline away from us and I doubted that he could have even seen us. We continued around the knoll just to make sure he didnt double back.

Everything seemed well so we camped out on the side of the village below for a bit to survey and decide if it was worth looting or not. Well, I just happened to look to our flank and saw this same player, about 75 yards away, crouch walk between two trees and drop prone, he had a scoped rifle and was pointing directly at us. I immediately told my buddy to get down and fired two shots. The first hit the tree beside him, the second took him out. I was given a murder so I assume that he was not a bandit.

This was percieved by me as a hostile action on his part, he had correctly assumed our destination and doubled back on us in a perfect ambush position. It was sheer luck on my part that I even noticed him take his position. As far as my thoughts ran at the moment it was kill or be killed.

OK here is my question for you. Having killed a non-bandit (who was VERY likely setting up an ambush on our position) I now have increased my heartbeat. How is this any different from a bandit skin? Sure it's more subtle, but as I understand it, the bandit skin was removed because it could be given even when in self defense. Well, now I am well on my way to having a heartbeat, same as I would have been well on my way to having a bandit skin with the previous mechanic. How is this new heartbeat mechanic any different with respect to having the game label a self defense killing as a murder? It seems to me it is exactly the same mechanic, in a different wrapping.

Yeh, not liking this heartbeat. Great idea and all but where is the realism in this. Add something else like scars, blood patches etc. Will do the same job of having to get up and close to identify your opponents history.

Today, I was forced to kill a bandit who shot my friend from right in front of my eyes and hit me with a few bullets before I even shot back, yet I still got a murder for killing him. I bandaged myself on 3000 blood and am even now waiting for one of my friends to get a bloodpack so I can continue playing without a constantly glaring screen.

The Murder mechanic is quite obviously flawed, and because of these flaws, the Heartbeat mechanic is flawed. I find that the Heartbeat mechanic is fine on paper, but simply due to the faults in the Murder mechanic, it's failing, which is unfortunate.
