maxotaur 135 Posted February 17, 2014 Flies around corpsesDayZ Ambient Soundtrackplayer death notifications Now, before anybody says, there hasn't been any mention of these from the DEVs, however, a player did mention the music thing and most people said no, they don't want music, however, if you were to think about the other people, putting music in is keeping everybody happy, as for the players who do not wish to have it on, can just turn it off right?, so it should go in regardless. As for flies around corpses, this should be implemented for many reasons, if the bodies are going to disappear, the flies should stay for at least 20 minutes to show that a player has died, other than that, it helps people locate dead bodies. And for death notifications, it lets players know if they are successful in killing someone but also lets players know if there is alot of deaths happening, which is an indication of how quiet a server is... it also means that you know when a teammate has died. WolfgangErikson 127 Posted February 17, 2014 Yes to flies. I miss them terribly.I think adding music would be a good idea. Like you said, it can always be toggled off by anybody who wouldn't like it. No to death notifications. If you aren't sure you killed someone, you don't deserve to get to "relax" by being told by the software of you success, nor should you be told that the threat still exists by the absence of such a notification.
maxotaur 135 Posted February 17, 2014 I was thinking that, but if you also remember that time you probably shot somebody that shot at you first, and you assumed they died and you held off because you didn't know... and then bang... you dead.
Mullraugh 1151 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Aye I miss the Flies. The soundtrack is.. well... let's just say I muted the music in the mod, but yes I miss it. And no to the death messages, that's just lame (In my OPINION. Don't get mad at me for having one.) The fact you can tell if someone's dead after you shoot them purely because some text on the bottom of the screen is a little iffy to me. I think Dean called that kind of thing "Metagaming". Basically taking Out-of-Character information and using it to your character's advantage. About the music though. It needs to be more ambient and subtle instead of the "DUNN CHH DUNN CHHH DUNNN CHHH" of the mod Edited February 17, 2014 by mullraugh

Nicko2580 398 Posted February 17, 2014 As long as music is off by default I don't have a problem with it being added. It shouldn't be on by default though. I do think it kind of ruins the atmosphere of the game, having ambient music though.
Human Hunter 6 Posted February 17, 2014 As long as music is off by default I don't have a problem with it being added. It shouldn't be on by default though. I do think it kind of ruins the atmosphere of the game, having ambient music though. dayz's music is what helped create the atmosphere to begin with tbh to a new player dayz is not much of a zombie thriller or very immersive. I dont see dayz being as interesting as it was to new players without it. im guessing most die hard fans have heard the mod's music. that was part of the reason i got hooked, kept my heart racing. So even if you turned it off at some point it helped form the atmosphere of the game. its a shame they took it out.

That's my point exactly. If you assumed you killed somebody but didn't, that is your own fault. The game shouldn't hold you hand and tell you when it is safe to come out; that is a decision you have to make, sometimes it is the wrong decision, but that is part of what this game is about.
