I must be doing something wrong, not a single item

I must be doing something wrong and can't figure it out. I bought the alpha yesterday and have been playing it several hours since. I have yet to find a single item, not one. I have gone into every building I've seen, looked everywhere thoroughly, and yet somehow I haven't seen even one item.

All i can say is get off the coast. Go inland and look in some of those towns. I think loot is slightly broken at the moment though. Half the buildings never spawn anything.

Someone has already been there, you generally have to get as far away from the coast as possible more in-land to find loot.

 

 

Also playing on servers that reset every 4 hours does help, as loot will respawn after the reset.

Generally don't bother looting or trying to loot if the doors in the place you want to loot are opened

Yeah, especially on the coast, if the doors are open and there aren't any zeds, you won't find anything.  You MIGHT (and that's a big might) find a melee weapon or some rotten fruit, but nothing too useful.

 

Just find a well/stream/pond get hydrated, and head inland until you find an unlooted town.

I had the same problem, now that i have a full backpack i keep on coming accross so much food. But like everyone says move inland
