A friend of mine who got a shitty laptop runs it beter then me.. Altho it runs smoother then the mod, it still laggs.. :( Is it the game, or my pc? are there any tweaks to improve FPS? Dchil 829 Posted February 15, 2014 Then lower your settings, what's your FPS when it's maxed. If it's anything over 20 then you have gotten far too used to non graphic intense games (comparatively) like BF4 and so on.
soulfirez 901 Posted February 15, 2014 Id lower your settings a bit but id say the cpu is probably more the problem do you feel comfortable over clocking it do you have sufficient cooling to do it ?? if so i would read guides on clocking that cpu (not familiar with i5's ) but id say surely it can go to 4ghz.. Please correct me if i am wrong anyone who knows the i5 chipset ????
RoterBallon 68 Posted February 15, 2014 In ~1-2 there will be huge performance optimizations on Intel/Invidia and 1-2 weeks later on AMD/ATI according to Dean.He said something about 50% better performance for Nividia. Can't await that update.
oregonized 673 Posted February 15, 2014 It is most likely a combination of the game and your internet connection. Mostly the game though.

Please correct me if i am wrong anyone who knows the i5 chipset ???? I don't claim to know much, but mine currently runs at 4.0, I'd need a better cooling system to run it at 4.4 or 4.5 which seems to be fairly common. So yeah they can definitely be overclocked rather well I believe, at least from what I've gathered from other people. I could run it on 4.0 with a stock cooler, howeverI'd reach temperatures on 100% load that climbed to 89-90°C in prime95 Edit:I'm not entirely sure you'll be able to run with everything maxed out though. Someone else might answer that better than me.I'm currently running textures on high,Quality: some on normal, some on low, some disabled.Rendering is: disabled and low settings.Get approximately 35-60 fps, depending on where I am. I don't remember what I got in larger cities though, but it wasn't unplayable. Edited February 15, 2014 by LeChat

Dr. Goner 661 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) It's your cpu unfortunately. The engine is CPU intensive. Shadows are completely controlled by CPU from what I understand so lowering them will help, but there are two settings in quality they are right below the allocated video memory setting (which should be set to auto by the way). Counterintuitively, both of those settings should be set to very high as when you do this, the engine begins to offload those responsibilities from CPU to GPU. Just adjusting shadows and those two settings worked wonders for me. However, I've been asking around about the current experimental build (0.36.115297) When I played it last on Wednesday there were major FPS issues for me. I was hoping this was resolved in an update. It was very similar to the fps issue from two patches ago. The current stable build (0.35xxx188) runs AMAZINGLY for me. I get 40-50 fps in major towns and 60+ everywhere else. It looks beautiful as well. Edited February 15, 2014 by Dr. Goner
Dr. Goner 661 Posted February 15, 2014 Whoa! I just read this: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1xtgzz/twitter_rocket2guns_psa_about_rain_in_dayz_shadow/cfeq48m?context=3 I stand corrected and am beginning to wonder how much I actually understand about this. Start with this reddit thread and go from there. Apparently setting shadows higher also helps with CPU usage. I also have an old CPU i7 930 OC'd to 4.09 but I have two GTX 760s running in SLI (SLI is currently not used in DayZ from what I understand) so the more I can offload onto my GPUs the better my game runs. This would be the same case for you as you have a beast of a video card but a weak CPU.
lordkalvaire 15 Posted February 15, 2014 Actually it's really not about ur clock speed, u have i5 u should be fine at stock. Try to disable ambiant occlusion it drains to much power for what it gives and see if u get any fps gain.
