Global/Side Voice chat distorted

When ever I'm on a server that has Side and Global chat, when people talk it comes through all distorted, can't make out a single word.

Is it like this for anyone else?

and can I fix it?

hope its not my shitty 6mb DSL internet...

Global chat and side chat, should no longer be existent as when a server is updated to the 1.7 + using one of the newest beta patches they are removed Please read this for more information, As for the distortion it depends on what the server host set the codec quality to, i think default is 3 where as maximum is 10.

There are several servers with Global voice and I know of one that said Beta required in the title of the server...

thanks for the info tho

EDIT: looking more closely at the server info says it only requires 1.60... thought that wasn't possible.
