so the title holds the question, its up to you to answer it.

 

I personally think a ballistic helm usually shows signs your knowing your going to get into a fire fight, also full camo its pretty bad to wear, I usually wear a hoodie, jeans, and never any masks (for the most part, only when it looks cool in conjunction to whatever im wearing) such examp: gas mask + cowboy hat) hunter pack, shows your not going around lugging some freshie's cherished belongings, leather shoes (to go with the cowboy look) some nice aviators, and always remember to MAKE CONTACT BEFORE YOU SHOOT SOMEONE.

There isn't an "Outfit" that makes you look friendly than any other. Even wearing only your underwear you can knock someone out and take their things.

While you don't shoot people for wearing masks, plenty of people do! and plenty of people wearing masks expect to be shot.  Only two kinds of people wear masks, bandits & idiots.   Heroes wear plaid, bandits wear masks according to DayZ lore all other "outfits" are just survivors

Yeah, I wear regular clothes without a ton of slots and my backpack is only a handcrafted 20 slot.  For weapons I carry my firefighter axe, .357 magnum, and my M4.  I'd say the only thing people would be afraid or intimidated by is my M4 which isn't even kitted out.

Yup. Every encounter I've had with someone wearing a gasmask has resulted in my death (or eventual death). Now I'll shoot a gasmask wearer without hesitation if there's a chance they will encounter me (or already have). Same with payday masks and the same with anyone moving about with their weapon already raised.

That is not true.  It totally depends on who you run into.  Some people are immediately threatened by anyone in camo or masks.

I am friendly and wear pretty much all camo.

 

1. Don't want to be an easy target for non-friendly.

2. Camo stuff pretty much holds the most gear.  Yes I wear cargo pants if I can but at that point does it matter?

I'm currently wearing black cargo pants, brown hiking boots, orange rain coat and orange construction hat. With an orange pipe wrench on my back (and axe in my pack). I think it looks friendly... I run by people telling them I've been called to fix a clogged toilet in Elektro. But it might like deranged too.

Also sporting a 45 with silencer on chest holster and a B95 on the back. I'm actually a friendly player and just today stopped to help a chap who accidentally ate some rotten fruit.

at the end of the day you have a much greater chance of running into a bandit masquerading as a hero than a hero wearing a mask.  if you're not a bandit, take off the mask as i'm sure you're not an idiot right?

I generally keep it barebones and civilian browns/greens. I won't bother with a pack, as they all currently scream "I'm over here" and the hunting one makes you look like a turtle. Yes, I see your shell sticking out of the grass sniper.......

The courier bag however, is beyond fn sexy. Now while I'm initially friendly, I won't hesitate to shoot if someone gets to close, if they pull a weapon or throw a punch, or if they are just being an asshat.

Yes, I'm aware my shoes don't match, working on it. Also looking to ditch my firemans axe in favor of the brown, less flashy, splitting axe.
