What does your weapon say about you?

Recommended Posts

I got  a bit tired of the firefights, so I decided to just start running around,  helping people where I can. On my journey I've come across many different people with all sorts of weapons. Surprisingly, players with different weapons really seem to behave differently when approached. Speaking of main weapons, I've found that mosin users were the friendliest, followed by sks users, most of which were really nice people. The only ones that usually just shot me in the head, even after telling them I'm friendly and offering help, are M4 users (I didn't meet many with B95s or shotguns, so I couldn't really include them here).

I'm not judging them, this is dayz and gunfights are fun, I'm just curious if this is simply due to the M4 being a semi-rare and strong cqb- weapon, or if it has something to do with the people choosing M4s. It could've just been coincidence as well.

Have any of you experienced similar things and/or use the M4? If so, what is your opinion on the matter?

The snipers - probably watched you from a long distance, and for some time, saw that you were not a threat and then approached you.

The SKS users - This is a pretty strong weapon, and it is flexible but not as aggressive as the M4, depending on your weapon they would have seen you as a different threat.

The M4 - Rambo uses mostly fully automated weapons too. Pretty much the M4 users are the run & gunners of DayZ, with a few exceptions. It is the most hell bringing weapon in the game, and is therefore the most aggressive of the others mentioned.

The m4 is the most hell bringing weapon? LOL I beg to differ. The mosin is. One shot to the head and you're dead. That's pretty hellish. The m4 is also extremely innacurate. The only advantage it has is automatic fire and clip size, but that's about it.

For the record the weapon you have doesn't say shit about you. It simply says it's the weapon you've found or chose to keep for whatever reason. I tend to steer clear of the m4 however so you might be on to something. I don't go out of my way to shoot people and stick mostly with the mosin for two reasons. I just found a long range scope, and I like the fact I can camouflage paint it :)

Yea the M4 is pretty much the noob gun right now (generally speaking so don't get all worked up about it) because in most cases people just spray and pray with it.

My weapon says, "Hey, he found me and ammo to feed me and so he will use me until he runs out of ammo to feed me or finds a different gun and makes a decision between the two." I use what I find and don't spend hours hunting a particular piece of equipment, you find that leads to attachment and attachment as we know leads to loss, which leads to grief or anger, which leads to the Darkside.

Mosin with LRS ( finally found one again) i use it to scope an area see no one there a little sniper practice on the zeds move in ( i stay way of the coast) i wont kill anyone that doesnt take me by surprise ( i use fnx when in streets of town and a sawn off while in buildings) i try to be friendly (emphasis on TRY) i always avoid contact as much as possible with the m4 user to many itchy fingers...

Although i find it amusing when the m4 user ( who doesnt know the T button changes fire to semi and is more accurate) starts burst firing at me from range, tip to the newer run and gunners not a wise move.....

B95:

Says: I've only got two rounds, so I'm not going to waste a shot. If I need to, you'll feel it ^^

Cool, a thread that makes assumptions about the type of person you are based on the rifle you carry.   :murder:

Regardless of what weapon I carry it always says the same thing. "I'm in a position to defend my life, Be nice, or prepare to defend yours."

My guns are for killing anything that threatens my personal existence.

It was not my intention to make assumptions, I just wanted to ask you if you think assumptions should be made. Because if several people observed the same things I did, then there might as well be a correlation between the way you act and your weapon. But as long as this doesn't happen, it's just my observations. Also, I'm talking about the way you play, not who you are in real life.

The bottom line is, you can't assume what type of person someone is because of the rifle they carry.  The only way to make such a decision is to observe the people for a while and if possible make contact with them.  I carry an M4 because I clear a lot of buildings and I like having a 30+ round clip just in case shit hits the fan.  I don't kill anyone on sight either.  Unless I run into a certain hacker, I will blow him away, take his stuff and throw it in a random bush then switch servers.

The m4 is deadly if you know how to use it. So many people panic shoot and miss. People who use the mosin tend to use it for sniping in a sustained position - no wonder they hit with the first shot.
