Wallf 0 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi guys,I haven't bought Day Z yet but that's because I'm unsure if I'll be able to play it.My question is very simple but I just need to know how many Mbs it uses per hour when playing.Thanks,Tristan.

nuggit 246 Posted February 14, 2014 Depends on server population I do believe. On a low pop server (10 and under) I can chew about 100mb or under in an hour, but on a full server the rate goes up significantly and chew as much as 500mb + within that hour. Wheunis 228 Posted February 14, 2014 On an empty server, it uses around 15-20KBps.It will use the exact same amount, even on a full server, as long as nobody is within 1km distance from you. The more people within your 1km bubble, the more bandwidth it starts using. In a 3v4 fight I once had, i noticed it spiking to 150KBps. So, it's usage is wildly variable on the "traffic" near you. But if I were you, I would calculate at max rate for safety. So work out how much it would use at 100-150KBps over an hour.

We use LTE mobile plans for pretty much everything. It's been that way for almost 4 years now and i have to watch my consumption like a hawk. an errant steam update running in the background can ruin me (especially at $50.00 a GB over my cap). average use for me is about 130 MB an hour for me when i play alone(i usually also have TS3 running in the background which accounts for 30 MB/hr), however ive seen it balloon up to close to double that when i play with my friends to the point i had to just quit because i was afraid how high it would go. both mod and SA use roughly the same, i bought the SA in hopes that it would be a bit less demanding. i was wrong. i had to actually go buy a 2nd mobile sim plan just for this game, to date BF4 had been the biggest resource hog ive ever seen at around, DayZ blows that out of the water. but man, do i love the gaming experience. deus_drone 98 Posted February 18, 2014 You are looking at 100mb - 500mb of data per hour,However the last time I looked at the data consumption it was just for Arma 2 Arrowhead. I will run DU meter this evening and re-test and post results. The bandwidth will not change, the game requires a lot of communication.

On average lasts 2 weeks. I have satellite for everything else. From watching porn to listening to music.. As others have stated It all depends on player count. It is true that it spikes when someone is near but I also experience overall more data usage in the high pop servers. Sometimes up to 6x the data usage. My average is around 100-150KB an hour on a no population server. On a high pop I expect on average about 150-250mb an hour. If I hang out in Elektro or Berinzo with all the other players it has gotten close to 1gb per hour. But if I keep on moderate servers aka 12-22 man servers I get around 2 weeks of usage with about 90-120 hours of game time. Keep in mind most Hot Spot type devices "Ghost". They upload and download background information. For example my first time it only lasted about 5GB out of the 10GB for background updates and what ever the hell else. As stated above DL a data tracker NOW! Not later! (KEEP IN MIND) -All data counts to your usage! Including Up-Loading!!- People miss this part all the time.... You will use your data for 3rd party VOIPYou will use your data for uploading screen shots for lulzYou will use your data anytime a friend links the imagur linkYou will use your data anytime a friend links a 30sec youtube videoetc, etc, etc All of this adds up real quick and faster than you think. I don't click on any link my friends send me or anything till I'm off my 4G..Save that crap for the even crappier e-net.. If you can't split your usage like I do expect to see the 250mb-1GB every one to two hours of game play. But if you can keep on eye on it and watch yourself you should average around 60kb..Which is like 3 weeks to a month of usage. I average about 2 weeks due to running with a group of 4-6 and being on a VOIP program with 4-10 dudes in the same channel. (PRO Tip) Not really lulz.. Set your Device to only use 3G!!! Saves you allot of data and runs DayZ just fine with me and my homies. I can't run 3rd party VOIP though. But you may depending on how many bars you get. I get 1 lulz..Same for my 4G. Just one fucking bar.. but it works.. In the end you can toss out the idea of paying once a month for data if you wanna play like everyone else.
