Putts_UK 28 Posted February 12, 2014 Is it me or does the m4 sound really crap? Its not loud at all which is good for the player but not realistic. It sounds like its silenced even when its not.Check out real sound here
Mack674 76 Posted February 12, 2014 No, the M4 in game doesn't sound right at all. Also, that guys mag changes and transitions were weak.

Putts_UK 28 Posted February 12, 2014 No the in game m4 sounds like a bb gun check here
TheWanderingMan 170 Posted February 12, 2014 it's deafening in real life and it's only a 5.56. Larger calibre weapons with suppressors never sound like they do in the movies lol.
Putts_UK 28 Posted February 12, 2014 I agree. in the mod if you fired a m4 people heard it from a distance. and it caused shit load of zombies to head your way.
chekovp 89 Posted February 12, 2014 The M4 sound is horrible. It is also hard to judge distance and direction from it as well. I'm sure it will change at some point though, at least I hope it does. The current sound would work well for a silenced M4.

I honestly think the SKS sounds closer to a unsuppressed M4. Then they need to give the SKS more bark. About 2x more. We should all be glad they are not true to life. Every time you'd fire your ears would be ringing like a nade went off next too you. Would be cool though. Add in some ear plugs and headsets. That way when you do get in a fat firefight without ear protection your at a tactical disadvantage to the ones who do. Would also like to see headsets that amplify other sounds. My $15 electronic ear muffs allow me to hear substantially further in RL. Edited February 12, 2014 by RyBo

Old_Crow_Whiskey 119 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) ALL sounds throughout the game are getting a full re-work from an outside team of specialists. They're on it - they've been working on it since before the alpha was released. Edited February 12, 2014 by Old_Crow_Whiskey

weedmasta 784 Posted February 12, 2014 Most sounds in game are bugged/too loud/not loud enough at the moment. That goes for all firearm sounds unfortunately as sometimes you'll hear a shot 300 meters away but you won't hear the shot your m8 made right next to you. MagneticToast 102 Posted February 12, 2014 I know they're all place holder sounds...but the shotgun sounds like a toilet flushing. Terrible lol
rybo 171 Posted February 12, 2014 I know they're all place holder sounds...but the shotgun sounds like a toilet flushing. Terrible lol Yeah we all know already "Alpha"...Considering they are able to copy/paste files over it's not like they have a full series of titles to pull from. Cough, cough ARMA... I have shot plenty of weapons and a few shots from your M4 without earpro on and your ears will be ringing for at least a little bit. The worst I've been through is being between a 240B and a 249, while i was firing my M4. This was very painful and my ears bled and I heard ringing for over a month. I could still hear what was going on around me, but it all sounded like I had ear muffs on for the first 12 hours or so.
Jezza93 44 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm no expert but that video was taken in an open desert where the sound could travel, in Chernarus you are in mostly wooded terrain which would surely dampen the noise. I do agree it is a tad quiet though.
hells high 676 Posted February 12, 2014 The sound blows. Its about as loud as a suppressed AR15 using supersonic ammo. It doesn't have to be deafening but it should have a much bigger crack and rolling echo like a gunshot does. Hell my old .22 Cooey from when I was a kid sounds beefier.

Having that same effect dumbed down to a gaming level would be fantastic. As you shoot the sounds get quieter but the ringing starts. After 5-10 rounds the ringing starts to dissipate down to an overall muffled hearing which slowly gets even more muffled down to the point where your forced to basically scream in direct chat for you buddy's to hear. All the while the ringing is still there but rides in sound level based on ambient sounds around you. The effects could last 5-15mins and if your ears do begin to bleed you'd have the chance at a later date for infection. Add in the hearing protection idea's and I think we got a winner. Thanks for your service and <3 for the better idea! Edited February 12, 2014 by RyBo
