Audio sources and api's

Recommended Posts

I see that in the audio confg you can set the sound sources all the way up to 128, are you planning to use hardware acelerrated audio ? What API/Middlewares are you using for dayz? Is the audio going to be good at any point? Cause it does not matter if what kind of headphones, tecnology or sound card you use, you cant pinpoint accurate dirrections of sounds

The directional audio does seem very nerfed, it is hard to tell the distance and location of sniper fire.  A buddy and I tested this out by firing from one location at a distance, and turning the target to hear out of left and right phones.  No two shots were the same, some sounded as if he fired the mosin off in my ear, others had the feel of a distance shot, while some seemed change from which direction the shot was taken from.

If I recall correctly, the audio sources is for mic only?

I agree with StreetsForRent with regards to distance, with direction though I always do superbly even with my cheap-o headset.

Sadly voip is about the only thing that seems to be working in regards to proper directional/distance sounds but then they havent been working on sounds long was only a few weeks ago they got a sound guy in to rework things (not sure i like some of his changes thus far .357 .....)

I also want to mention that i´m often getting missing sounds. Sometimes i can only hear the bullet passing my ears or hitting the wall, sometimes only the shooting sound and sometimes nothing at all. It´s not due to the distance of the gun, i often saw someone shooting like 30 or 50 meters in front of me but not making any sound. So it can really happen that you are happily running through a town while someone is shooting at you and you dont notice it.
