Etherimp 1323 Posted February 10, 2014 If you're bleeding and you log out, you die.If you're unconscious and you log out, you die.If you get shot at, and you log out, your character sits down, and will probably die. Just thought I'd let you know... The last 3 people I've encountered in game have combat logged whether I was trying to kill them or not.. And once they show themselves to be a combat logger, I kill them. I bet these are the same people coming to the forums asking "WHY MY CHARACTER GET DELETED? I LOGGED IN AND IT JUST SAID "You are dead." FIX THIS BUG!"
Tikka (DayZ) 47 Posted February 10, 2014 So true, i think some people are not aware that they sit down and don't keep lieing on the floor when logging out....
ekd 13 Posted February 10, 2014 Bleeding, too? Are you sure they don't just die of blood loss in the 30 seconds they remain in the game after they logged out?
coltonlong 211 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Or, rather than having to worry about it, why not stop combat logging? i never have because it kills the game. Besides, the adrenaline of being hunted and the hope that you can come out on top is a huge part of the human interaction and adds a lot of the core to the game. Grow a pair and negotiate or fight out, or die trying. I die a lot, but i dont cry, i just go find new gear, and settle for what i can keep for however long. better than being shot after an attempted combat log like a huge bitch. Karmaterror 982 Posted February 10, 2014 And that's why it doesn't work lol. 3 times you had only 2 outcomes....shoot them, or don't. The logout system needs to keep the player ingame so you can force the situation on them that they are trying to get out of. They all chose to gamble, fair dos they lost this time but I bet that wont stop them refining the technique and getting better at it. This is great as a revenge system, but doesn't address the issue of players avoiding encounters, weather they be combat or friendly :)
Kukui 13 Posted February 10, 2014 bleeding does NOT kill you if you logout. I was bleeding from zombies, spent a good 30min trying to find a shirt/bandage to fix it. Got pissed and logged out. When i came back several hours later, I still had the same char, and he was still bleeding.
weedmasta 784 Posted February 10, 2014 Bleeding will only kill you if you pass out or die (from bleeding) within the 30 seconds that you are sitting down after logging off.
antonioajc 500 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) I once found a logger on the NEAF in the tower. He climbed down the ladder and saw me in the room, instant alt f4 that one. :P I let him live though, since probably I had scared the shit out of him.Although next time I see somebody doing that, I won't show mercy again. sg3 14 Posted February 10, 2014 If you're bleeding and you log out, you die. This is not true. Friend got shot while logging off, we saw him bleeding. We killed the guy, and after our friend relogged he was still bleeding and I bandaged him personally. :-)

They should make it that way.

Blasphemy, never have mercy on the loggers.
Tyrion (DayZ) 2 Posted February 10, 2014 I never combat log. Stay in the game and deal with situation you put yourself in. This is also why I kill any combat logger I see.
EagLeTaLoN 5 Posted February 10, 2014 The worst is today. I had a toon alive for 11 days. The server I was in restarted, so i reconnected. Upon the "PLEASE WAIT" screen i could hear zombies attacking me and then " YOUR DEAD" Im like WTF. Why would 4 zombies be on top of me while just connected to the server. Did they all run to me while i was in PLEASE WAIT for 15 seconds? I dont think its fair to not have control of your toon at any time. Am I attached to my gear.. No but I did work hard for it all. I am sure I am not the only one to experience this. But I think when you log in you shouldn't take or give damage for 30 seconds. And with the logging out and your toon stays in. I think there should be counter on the screen that you are unable to back out of but still having control of your toon so you can fend off zombies or would be attackers. Just my opinion.

Etherimp 1323 Posted February 10, 2014 Funny thing is.. one of the guys I killed who combat logged, I was actually chasing down to give gear to.. I had a bag of rice, water, and a gun I wanted to give away. He went to combat log, so I popped him. :( Another guy got shot once, and rather than bandage and try to fight back, just logs.. why even play the game? I do understand what you're saying here. Hopefully they can do something for that circumstance. However, in the mean time, stick to the 'ol: 'find a safe place to log out' rule. I always log off outside of towns and in the forest or bushes so i don't have to deal with any crap when logging in or out, period.
CS14 133 Posted February 10, 2014 Love it when someone tries to combat log and you finish them off with a swift shot to the head. The best is when a guy was trying to sneak up on me and (presumably, as nobody is that stupid to log out in the middle of an open area in a gunfight) crashed as he was trying to sneak up on us. Let's just say he had a nice surprise when he came back on the server. Yesterday had some idiot try to hold up my friend at gun point, yet he didn't know I was a few buildings over and had a perfect view on him. We all got into a gun fight, ran around a few buildings, and he ended up combat logging behind a shed. We knew because we saw him disappear right as we came across the wall. Gotta love the idiots who start a gunfight then log out.
jrussell4402 21 Posted February 10, 2014 I want to add to this as I was given a nice surprise yesterday. My group and I got into a fire fight at very close quarters, I had taken a few shots while dispatching one of the shooters, fell unconscious and was revived by a squad mate to stay in the fight. With my screen all black and white but no blur, one of the many shooters (there were at least 4 more) clipped me while shooting at the friend who revived me, and we both fell unconscious. I laid there for a solid five minutes because no one from our group was near to revive, as did he. Then the server restarted, the sounds of curse words rain down on chat thinking we would be fresh spawns on re-log. We both stayed in as the countdown message continued so the other members of the group could follow easily through steam. After they had re-logged into the same server, we exited and followed them through steam. Upon entering the server, pleasantly both of us are still unconscious, one of the members of our squad revived and we didn't lose any gear. I had thought for sure with the server rebooting we would have been considered dead upon logging into the same server after restart due to be unconscious. There was a video recently of a guy who even got killed (with the "You are dead" screen) seconds before server restart, and when it restarted he was alive again.
