Increasing game difficulty

Recommended Posts

I just started playing the mod few days ago, haven’t been a full week yet and I am already tired of it. The problem I spot is that the game difficulty is too easy. Within 40 minutes of gameplay, I am able to get myself a decent gun, ammo and plenty of food and waters to sit around for hours. It no longer feels like you are fighting to survive once you reach that point and it’s just the matter of time before players gets bored and start shooting others just for fun.

My suggestions are as follows:

- SPAWN ZOMBIES OUTSIDE BUILDINGS AND INCREASE THEIR SENSITIVITY TO GUN SHOTS (possibly increase # of ZEDs)

1.This makes solo players think twice before using a firearm, for they will be swarm by zeds in an instance. Instead they need to rely on tactics and stealth.(where whiskey bottle, cans and crossbow were design for) By using silent weapon like a Xbows allows solo players to maneuver around zeds and loot around towns by themself, yet in exchange they are almost defenseless against players with firearm or when they get spot by the zeds.

2.Teamed survivors have an edge for their number and firepower. They can loot faster by clearing the town with guns, when Someone get hurt or low on supply they help each other out. In addition, the number of the group also gives them better protection against bandits. The disadvantage of teaming is the possible conflict over loot share and leader positions, which opens up cunning play style with in the team(IE. saving the last bandage for yourself instead of giving it to your bleeding teammates or "accidentally" shoot your team leader in the head)

3.This also makes bandit stick to their supposed lifestyle. A bandit must equip a firearm to rob or kill player effectively, yet a firearm makes it difficult for them to loot by themself like a solo survivor. Which force them to survive base on the idea of taking from the others.

- DRASTICALLY REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF LOOT ITEMS

1.This gives bandits their right purpose, to kill and rob people for their precious survival supplies.

2.Increasing the values of loots also raise the complexity of teamed gameplay dynamic, teammates fighting over the ownership of rare loots may often leading to possible betrayal and conflicts between teammates.

Currently the play style of a player is not being reward or punished because of the abundant loots and easy access in and out of a town. The advantage of solo players lies with their stealth ability and simplicity lifestyle but sacrifice firepower and group protection. Team players gain protection, aids and firepower in exchange of possible conflicts within the group. Bandits rely on robbing and killing others with risk of getting themself killed and gives up good portion of their ability to scavenge in towns.

And on the side notes, either increase arrow counts and makes Xbow arrows irretrievable or if it is possible to make it like Skyrim where you can retrieve the arrows through the enemy gear menu. Because the arrow retrieve system right now is very impractical with the chance to lose the arrows.(depend on how the zed die, where you shot him at or if the zed is standing by a non-enterable house)

These of course are just my opinion, but let me know what you people think

There was a tweak to spawning and it appears to have been a little overadjusted. It happened with the 1.5.6 patch so you may not have seen Day Z with lots of zombies. I'm sure it'll get fixed at some point, but it is an alpha.

I agree that zombies should be overall much more dangerous. Maybe do more damage, etc. Depending on the gun you use you can attract quite a lot of them. I fired a CZ in cherno the other day and brought down the horde, even with low zombie spawns.

Yeah, loot and zombie spawns were screwed up pretty badly in a recent update. There SHOULD be far more zombies and loot.
