How to type talk in Dayz

Hey,

I've been playing dayz standalone and ive noticed that people have been typing to me if they dont have a mic. Ive tried to figure it out but i just cant figure out how to type talk.

Simply press "." to open the chat field and "enter" to send it.

It's not '.' - that changes the channel (although I think there is only direct chat).

 

'/' should work though.

Those guys are right, "." is channel change but there is only one in the DayZ SA, I fucked up, I apologise.

 

Depending on your layout (qwerty or qwertz) it's "-" or "/" (just beside of "." on your keyboard)

unless you're using a radio then you need to switch channels..

Question cause I dont have friends so I cant test this. How far you can send those chat messages? I mean can you write to people in other side of town or airfield or hill. And if there is stealth guy in bush can he see messsage too?

direct chat messages (typed / spoken) go about as far as the grass draws (100m) - radio messages go 1k.
