Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted February 9, 2014 Is rain client side or server side? I'm just curious because I've been playing with buddies who say it's pouring but I don't see it. This could give an easy advantage to those who aren't getting rain and having noise drowned out by it.
belphegor_goatzombie 100 Posted February 9, 2014 ... I've been playing with buddies who say it's pouring but I don't see it...+1When its pouring for me they say it stoped, and its same with thunder sounds.
TIC 1050 Posted February 9, 2014 +1When its pouring for me they say it stoped, and its same with thunder sounds. Same here, this has happened in the mod as well. What's worse is that when it's foggy for your view and for others, it's not.
MrJoeDirty 34 Posted February 9, 2014 I think it may be client... I logged onto a server and it was raining. About 45 minutes later my game crashed(first time ever...) and i had to reload Dayz. After i logged back into the same server, it was no longer raining. It may have just been a freak event... but until i hear otherwise, i will say the the transition from no rain to sunny skies made my game crash. Since it was raining when i was playing, crash, then no rain after i logged back in.(same server) therefore, making me lean towards client side rain.
djporternz 644 Posted February 9, 2014 Tested this extensively today with my group. Definately client-side. :( :( :emptycan:
Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted February 9, 2014 Tested this extensively today with my group. Definitely client-side. :( :( :emptycan:Damn, that sucks. Something like that should not be client side. Hell, most of the crap that causes issues for people should not be client side. Oh, and btw, I fixed your spelling mistake :P
omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted February 9, 2014 It might not be client-based but region-based...were your friends in the rain right next to you or far?

sai (DayZ) 137 Posted February 9, 2014 Also like to add I've only seen rain once since playing from launch. And it only lasted one min and was very light. It needs to rain more. A lot more.
Sutinen 635 Posted February 9, 2014 Also like to add I've only seen rain once since playing from launch. And it only lasted one min and was very light. It needs to rain more. A lot more. For me it's always cloudy and raining/thundering.
soulfirez 901 Posted February 9, 2014 Also like to add I've only seen rain once since playing from launch. And it only lasted one min and was very light. It needs to rain more. A lot more. rain was disabled very early in the SA ( not sure why assuming bug of some kind) but weather is back and it rains quite often now ( well it has been from me and i am pretty sure it is client side like many of the ambient effects were/are in arma rabits bugs things floating in the air) I often in the start of SA had my friends asking if i was crazy because id be running around trying to splat a rabbit ( thinking i might be able to eat it finding i couldnt even kill it) and for them there was no rabbit lol ...
