Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 The fact that I've stayed alive for over a day is rather amazing to me. I'm becoming a lot more careful in what risks I take and when I come out of the back country to risk interaction with possible bandits, especially on servers with 10+ people. So here's my crux - rather than kiting zombies away and coming back to my loot goals each time I started killing them from time to time. I don't know why, but in the past 24-48 hours my aim has gotten HORRIBLE. The result is that I've taken some damage and am now low on blood. Each time I've bandaged myself so I'm not currently bleeding. I've hit up 2-3 hospitals looking for blood to no avail. I've considered parking it at a hospital and logging out and back in from another server to see if the loot I'm looking for is there but that's sort of cheating and I'd rather try this straight up (learn out to do it right or get help from someone). I even tested myself with a test kit and found I was O+ (sweet, at least I know!). But I'm walking around with everything quite blurry, no amount of food/drink I hit up seems to help, no amount of bandages, morphine, etc I take helps either. I'm assuming my only way to fix this is a blood transfusion or something. Has anyone experienced this and can anyone confirm? Any tips or help would be much appreciated. It's kinda fun to be geared up and ready to tackle the world for a change, but my vision is getting fubar from what I'm guessing is blood loss!
Advent1 126 Posted February 8, 2014 You seem to be low on health if your screen is blurry, and low on blood if it's greyish. The only way to gain health is to have blood at maximum (5000) and then eat and drink until the healthy status. I have 2 or 3 saline bags on my character I can give to you. If you're interested send me a private message.
Xarg 6 Posted February 8, 2014 Blurry vision is health damage, you need to eat and drink enough for your body to regenerate your missing blood, then the food/water/blood will regenerate missing health. If you've got any gray in the vision you're missing blood as well as health. That's Merino's video explaining how it all works, but it sounds to me like you just need to eat a like a pig for a while, and stay well hydrated, or find someone to give you a saline IV. wuffi (DayZ) 18 Posted February 8, 2014 Well since the last update you don´t bleed anymore :( (I liked it)Right now its all about food (I guess) because when i get hit by a zombie the autoheal kicks in as longas i´m healthy. So eat all you can (so the autoheal starts to kick in)
Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 Can eating/drinking like a pig alone fix it over time? Or is the only option saline or something? It's not so much gray as blurry. Well maybe a *little* gray but mostly blurry.
Xarg 6 Posted February 8, 2014 Over time yes, if your vision isn't very gray at all it sounds like you are regenerating blood, when that is finished a "healing" status will appear on your inventory screen, which is when your blood + water + food is regenerating health, when that's done the blur will be gone and you'll have a "healthy" status instead of "healing"
Torinx 36 Posted February 8, 2014 Can eating/drinking like a pig alone fix it over time? Or is the only option saline or something? It's not so much gray as blurry. Well maybe a *little* gray but mostly blurry. Eating and drinking until Health status will give you Healing status if you need it, that will regenerate both blood and health. It's really worth taking the time to watch all of Merino's video's about DayZ health, nutrition and medicines, you will learn a lot and it will save you from many blurry/desaturated/pained hours. Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 Newb in training here... appreciate the advice! It's more fun to survive than scrape along a living after dying over and over!
Xarg 6 Posted February 8, 2014 Despite playing hundreds of hours of the mod, the new hunger and thirst mechanics caught me off guard badly, would second Torinx' advice to watch all of Merino's videos, they're well presented and highly informative (as far as food/water/health/medicine goes, as they are the focus of the videos) and should be a must-watch for all new players, IMO. Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 An update after logging back in and looking - it says I'm "Energized" and "Hydrated" in my inventory screen - there's nothing about healing. Am I dealing with something else perhaps?
Torinx 36 Posted February 8, 2014 Energized and Hydrated are both good, but you want to keep eating until you get Healthy and Healing. So far, you're well on your way to being in the prime of your life.
Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 Ok, this is interesting. I tried eating some stuff but assumed everyone must be full of bunk - but suddently a 3rd green rectangle of "healing" turned up in my inventory alongside "Engergized" and "Hydrated". But I had to eat 2 cans of tuna, 1.5 cans of beans, and some other stuff. I feel like a fat kid at a cake convention... but I definitely got the "healing" status finally. Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 Ok, update again - not to spam, but my vision is back to normal! Gluttony heals all (except for disinfectant spray)?
Torinx 36 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Chemical poisoning is very hard to survive, you have to be already Healthy/Healing, at full health, and next to lots and lots of water, for 2 hours or so. Other than meeting those requirements, it's a sure death. You do have to eat a lot and drink a lot to start with, you have just woken up on a beach after starving and dehydrating for 5 days. Seriously though, whenever you get some time take a look at Merino's stuff, you won't regret it, I even got you a link to the whole in-depth thread. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-updated-jan-22nd-all-medical-items-to-keep-or-not-to-keep/?hl=merino Edit: p.s. Nice to hear you're up to full health now :) everything is better with all those green status indicators going. Edited February 8, 2014 by Torinx
Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted February 8, 2014 Well, in trying to stay off the beaten path I ended up somehow sliding down a cliff face and died. That was unexpected. Yet another learning experience I suppose. :(
