zaphodity (DayZ) 41 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I was wandering around Elektro today, and it was a complete ghost town, even with a server that had 39 people on it. So here's me thinking"Ah, all the little boys and girls are all sat in their rooms waiting for someone to walk past the window", wonder how many days they have been there ? So I wandered on over to the hospital to see what the action was. I went from floor to floor, room to room saying things like "Yoo-hoo, Avon calling" and "Allo, anybodies homes" in a silly accent. A deaf person could have heard me. I went up to the last floor, the one with the stairs that go up into a room, and got the feeling somebody was up there. After introducing myself, it was painfully obvious they didn't wish to chat so I went downstairs and sat in a room and waited. Sure enough, about 3-5 minutes later I hear footsteps coming towards the room I'm in. I move over to the corner and decide to give him a chance.I started talking saying how noisy he was, and that maybe we should become friends. I even played him a Bee Gees song. Even after all that this stupid person would rather die and start all over again rather than lose his precious kill. After awhile his footsteps faded and I left the room and set up an ambush in another, just in case he decided he WAS going to be friendly after all. As I waited, a red message came up saying the server was about to restart. I typed in "saved by the bell" and left the server before it reset. It is a never ending source of amazement how stupid some people really are, and how they have to do things the hard way. sQubanny 13 Posted February 7, 2014 People don't want to co-operate, because the feeling of the chance of being killed is their pain in the ass.
Play Pretend 6 Posted February 7, 2014 I have worked with a few people on DayZ, even made a friend. It is possible to have positive human interaction, but its harder than it should be, and I blame that on the (as of yet) lack of end game mechanics that make it more beneficial to work together. As of now its behooves a player to KoS more then it does to work toward a common goal. Crafting, Town building, and such could alleviate some of the Kos, There will always be bandits, and that's a good thing, but there are ways to make the game more "friendly" we are just too early in the development cycle for that sort of thing. drayson 158 Posted February 7, 2014 Or it could have been someone who doesn't speak english? Doesn't trust other people? Or isn't interested in being friendly? Maybe his sound was borked? Or he had his sound off? Your first assumption is not always (usually wrong) in most scenarios.
