beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 I have been noticing this more and more lately, the devs are getting . . . strange . . . with what they are putting in the game, the first was painting your gun (really? in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? would you care what your bloody gun LOOKED like?) and now there's bloody COWBOY HATS? REALLY? how many Russians do you know that wear cowboy hats? Now I assume that the team that created the cowboy hat would also be responsible for the artwork/modelling for the painted guns, so my question is, why are you placing valuable resources on such asinine projects such as this? Surely that team would have been better placed to create more authentic weapons (SKS was brilliant) or clothes? Now, to my suggestion, get your priorities sorted, your doing everything back to front. Their are more important things that need to be done than adding bloody cowboy hates and customizing your gun!Oh, and I know its a Alpha, before you start screaming it at me for daring to question anything, i'm not having a go at the devs, not the game itself. skyline-gtr 130 Posted February 7, 2014 Could hazard a guess that item customisation is different then item creation. not sure.
Rudette 435 Posted February 7, 2014 More customization is always better.
beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 Could hazard a guess that item customisation is different then item creation. not sure. but surely it would take people to create it? even if it is simple as re-skinning something
beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 More customization is always better. Agreed, BUT after you have more than half a dozen (exaggeration) items in the game
RedPhantomX4 26 Posted February 7, 2014 They need to make a thread called *Whining bout the game*.....there is no suggestion here...its just you crying about what they are adding to the game.
beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 the suggestion is that they get their shit together, if that not a suggestion to you then, my good sir, I don't know what would be
RedPhantomX4 26 Posted February 7, 2014 Ok, im sorry, i guess your too much of a retard to figure out what i had to say...this is a STUPID suggestion...sorry for the "inconvenice"
beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 Ok, im sorry, i guess your too much of a retard to figure out what i had to say...this is a STUPID suggestion...sorry for the "inconvenice" yes, because putting decent things in game is a 'stupid' suggestion, of course it is. Rudette 435 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) The biggest thing that needs to be implimented into the game is.. The environment. Another opposition aside from other players. Right now it's laughably easy to survive. This is understandable, because the systems just aren't there yet. As I've said before. More survival mechanics and better zombies. That's going to be a lengthy process that requires them to step over the hurdles of technical issues, server stability type stuff, and what have you. They've already made steps towards this with server improvements that will allow for higher frame rates and thus more entities, zombie improved pathing AI, and adjustments to the food/thirst rates.Far from finished. Who knows what new mechanics and they'll implement, camping? Wet/Cold stuff? Everthing has to be balanced around these ideas, and tweaked and adjusted as they come. That sort of project, multilayered as it is, takes time.So in the mean time, getting little awesome things while we wait?I have no problem with that.... And I really don't see why you would, other than ignorance of technical limitations or a hyper-evolved case of ungrateful.. RedPhantomX4 26 Posted February 7, 2014 Ok bro, im just gonna stop talking, cuz ur clearly not smart enough to know what decent/stupid stuff is
carcinovich 156 Posted February 7, 2014 A cowboy hat was heavily requested, and I do admit, I think it looks kinda nifty. It's obviously not for everyone. Maybe some Texans washed ashore? ;)Now, I would agree with the OP if the DayZ dev team started adding weird things like santa hats and swimsuits...

I agree completely, but how about this, instead of being able to put paint on your gun, how about being able to rub dirt/mud on your face and hands? aids in camouflaging yourself and blending in with the background., you know stuff that AIDED you in the fact that its a survival game. TheNorCalSniper 63 Posted February 7, 2014 More customization is always better. Like Rudette said. Also, in regards to painted guns, I sure as hell (already do) would camouflage my rifle and my gear in a zombie apocalypse. If it means putting on camouflage paint, camouflaging my rifle, and wearing tactical gear just so it takes you longer to see me and easier for me to kill you... Well, that's exactly what I'm doing. In this kind of scenario, it's me and my family - everyone else is dead.
beani5003 28 Posted February 7, 2014 camo clothing is a given, but a firearm? I'd rather make sure it works, then once the other guy has been show the inside of his own head, THEN show his how fancy you can make your gun :)

Valadain 270 Posted February 7, 2014 There are a lot of potential answers that have nothing to do with improper resource allocation. First, there will be different people on different projects. Second, they likely have a lot of things already done, just not tested, merged, and released and those who do this aren't just going to sit on their hands while the big things get worked. Third is that some projects aren't intended so much to offer you a painted weapon day one, but to prove out a particular mechanic in a simple way. If I had to lay money, I would bet that the weapon painting is the precursor tests for the basics of the crafting system.
