Knockout strike suggestion

Recommended Posts

We've seen it in other games - basically if you are able to actually sneak up to someone who is camping or just standing in one place, you could take your time and deliver a precise strike and try to knock him out. It's represented by a bar which fills up in several seconds while you hold the left mouse button (you cannot walk while you "charge" the strike). When the bar is full, the strike has a significant chance to knock the person out. The chance could vary depending on the weapon. For example doing this with a combat knife could result in instant death, while doing this with a shovel knocks the person unconscious.

You can already do this, we don't need a separate, unnecessarily complicated, mechanic for it.

How can you do that? As far as I know you can only hope to knockout someone when you hit him with usual blows. There should be an advantage if you were able to get close to someone without him noticing.

Exactly. If you know what you're doing, you can aim for the head and have a high chance of a knockout blow. Just like in real life. No need for a bogus "takedown" mechanic, IMO.

Because standing still while holding up your fists makes your punch more powerful.

No thanks.
