Gear and stats

Recommended Posts

We all now if you wearing a helmet or a bullet resistant vest your going to take less damage than no armor.  my question is will their ever be data showing how much armor, or stats are added when you add gear...

examples being:

Moto helmet - +10 armor

Gloves - +2 armor

Press vest - +20

just something that I wonder about every time I put on a pair of gloves..

Well, every time i put on Yellow working gloves for my black character, he's arm skin turns white. It's like they are enchanted.

I can't wait for my Sniper Gloves of +10 Accuracy.

Or the +20 fire resistance ring.

It's not that simple. Damage values aren't simplified into easy-to-understand armor ratings. This isn't WoW.

im just curious if there are any benefit to wearing a military helm vs. a moto helm? and if so what's the armor value difference... as much as you mmorpg hater wanna hate. this is a mmorpg with epic loot.

there is common gear, rare, and epic just like your other games out there. the only difference is that isn't any stats listed

and im not expecting to have damage boosting equipment. im only interested in armor, and maybe durability.

And a realistic simulation game. Having stats is not somthing that should be in a game like this

Use your head, a "ballistics helm" vs a "motorbike helmet" .  Take a guess without needing numbers to prove which would be better if being shot in the head

soo... how do you think the DayZ damage system works atm?

soo.. which one provides better protection against a strike with a baseball bat, and why?

dont get me wrong, but the wish to understand game mechanics and to actually be able to evaluate the functionality and usefullness of an item is not something to be frowned upon. if it was all so self-explanatory, we would all be collecting pliers because they are so incredibly useful IRL

that said, i think there are better ways than simply providing a "X% damage reduction from ballistic damage, Y% damage reduction from shock damage" value

dayz is not a simulation game. to many people have this false idea of what the game is when the word simulation is not stated anywhere in the games description

Well if they implemented the use for pliers I would be using them and to answer your question, a motorcycle helmet, duh. They are designed to protect your head from blunt force trauma, aka falling off your bike and hitting your head on the ground.  If you want me to go into further detail on the design I can.

Here is my final word on this subject.. im not saying the information has to be post on the item.. however I would like to have the information available.  I have yet to see anybody bash dayzdb.com for posting data about the map and loot spawn/ info.

Lightening Bolt!  Lightening Bolt!  umm..

Wouldn't mind seeing a damage chart for the weapons and their ammo used for them, and melee weapons.  Not sure I'd like to see anything in the ingame UI showing the amount of Hit Points our character has.  As in the mod, some versions anywho, show the amount of blood/etc, bandits & zeds killed, etc, in the UI ingame.  Not sure if I'd like this.

Do some tests with some mates. Get a bunch of helmets and guns and shoot each other/whack each other in the head and see what happens.
