Pexlex 0 Posted February 5, 2014 I think a GPS would be nice :)
xRann 126 Posted February 5, 2014 Just learn the map and landnav. Having a map, compass, or gps just takes up space and is a crutch. I honestly can't remember the last time I was lost on Chern ;p
skyline-gtr 130 Posted February 5, 2014 I do agree, GPS would be nice. However, there is also joy to be taken from learning things the old fashioned way.
crazywolf5150 17 Posted February 5, 2014 They're going to add the GPS in a future update, but I'm not going to find it very useful since I always have the map open on my other moniter from dayzdb.com and my compass is always useful if I'm somewhat lost in the forest. The maps that you find in game are completely useless when they're only partial maps and it takes too long for it to load the map in game.

gerbilschooler 229 Posted February 5, 2014 Oh hoho. I believe that all of you naysayers will definitely want a GPS or at the very least a way to find out grids when basebuilding becomes an option...

I've actually never used a GPS in dayz (mod), more specifically in Epoch with base building and what not
xRann 126 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) I've actually never used a GPS in dayz (mod), more specifically in Epoch with base building and what notAgreed. At the very least knowing ruff grid cords and a general idea of "where would I build/hide shit" and you're good to go. The map, once known well, does become quite small and easily navigated. creature 1189 Posted February 5, 2014 Do you have a source ?Watch all the streams of Rocket playing the game. Read all the dev blogs and twitter posts. It's been stated numerous times that gps will find its way into the game. Very rare and will require batteries.

It would be better if the person who made the statement simply told us where he got the info from.
- Karma - 75 Posted February 5, 2014 Umm no thanks. It would be better if the person who made the statement simply told us where he got the info from. I know what you're saying Skyline, but I've heard it from multiple people as well. It could just be rumor, but too many people are talking about it. Alas, I don't have a source for you, just second hand information. I've seen it confirmed on one of the wiki's, but take that with whatever grain of salt you need to. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/GPS That site is usually very good at noting what is from the mod, and what from the standalone - not sure why this entry hasn't been updated yet. Unless of course it is in the game and neither of us has seen it.
skyline-gtr 130 Posted February 5, 2014 Ok Karma, I read that page and it does say at the bottom that it is for the standalone. Now if GPS is not in game then that source could be said to be unreliable.

Like I said, grain of salt. It tis the interwebz, the magical land where anything can be real if you believe/can fake it hard enough :) Most of the other stuff on that site has proven to be correct or is looking like a very strong possibility, so I'll take it on faith for now. - Karma - 75 Posted February 5, 2014 yeah maybe we just havent found it yet lol I thought the combat knife was a myth until the other day :) The berries still don't exist, I don't care what the patch notes say - Rocket obviously gets his kicks from trolling an entire community :P

I honestly can't remember the last time I was lost on Chern ;p That's exactly the problem with Chernarus...I think we could use some more urban envoirement, imagine something like Raccoon City replacing Cherno and Elektro together
skyline-gtr 130 Posted February 6, 2014 That's exactly the problem with Chernarus...I think we could use some more urban envoirement, imagine something like Raccoon City replacing Cherno and Elektro together hmmm, there is already plenty games with Raccoon City.I like this game as it is fairly unique.
