Quik19 3 Posted February 5, 2014 My main computer is broken... and im trying to play DayZ Standalone on another computer, but when i start the gameit is like i have no character and im starting a new one... If you have a large external disk you could try moving your DayZ folder from the original PC to the other. BL1P 252 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) You could try :- make a back up on new PC of the C:\Users\YOU\Documents\DayZ copy the contents of your old PCs C:\Users\YOU\Documents\DayZ into the new PCs C:\Users\YOU\Documents\DayZ It might work haven't tried myself but I am pretty sure the .Vars file holds certain data the Hive needs to give you your old Char. byrgesen 1341 Posted February 5, 2014 Hmm this is indeed troublesome.It should not happen, basicly nothing should be stored locally (except the Mainscreen char) and everything should rely entirely on your Steam Account, regardless of what name you have. We should consider getting more people to test this, it could both a gamebreaking bug, but also a security risk.Im gonna boot up my laptop later on today and test it out, from a different location then home.More people really need to test this tbh. Better contact someone fomr the staff to answer the question and/or report it as a bug... and hope to be fixed soon. You won't be able to edit data a-la Borderlands, it's just a case of getting the DayZ hive to recognise you and give you your char. Not sure how though... brumey 116 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) i tried loging into steam on my main Computer with my Brothers steam account! and with the Family sharing beta i could start dayz with this account! NOW MY QUESTION:can i start playing dayz without losing my main steam accounts dayz-dude? would it be somehow "safe" to make a backup of the dayz Folder stored in documents before sarting with another account on the same Computer ?
