DURRHUNTER 597 Posted February 5, 2014 What graphics are you running it at? I have a i3-2120 @ 3.30GhZwith 6GBs of RAMand a Nvidia GeForce 610 and i run at Normal graphics textures and everything and i get a pretty good FPS considering i have a pretty shotty PC. Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted February 5, 2014 I'm running an i7-3770, a GTX 670 and 8GB RAM, and I'm getting about 40-50FPS at best. To be honest, I'm just chalking it up to 'Alpha, will be optimised later'. ARMA games have always been pretty iffy performance-wise - they'll work fine on some machines, then run like a dog on ostensibly much better machines. Dr. Goner 661 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) so sooooo what could it be then if not fps??!!ß? Unfortunately it's your CPU. I am almost 100% certain of this as most BIS games are very CPU heavy. It drives me crazy because I just installed two GTX 760s and run them in SLI but it is currently lost on DayZ. Rocket has stated that they will be offloading features of DayZ onto the GPU in future updates but those are WAY down the road as client side stuff is going to be done last. Sorry man, I know. I have an i7 overclocked to 4.09 and it's still not enough to do any better than you. Like I said I have two GTX 760s and run the game and os from an SSD. EDIT: I should note that just like GrimeyRick. I have tested this and my FPS is dramatically (like 50% more) due to my overclock which is 2.8 to 4.09. It's the same for me in ArmaIII Edited February 5, 2014 by Dr. Goner
SyL3X 51 Posted February 5, 2014 DayZ aka Robin Hood Takes the fps from good pc's and gives them to crappy ones.
survivor85 2 Posted February 5, 2014 well other ppl here run i3 as far as i know ill just check----
CS14 133 Posted February 5, 2014 I remember something about have all low settings dosent help fps in the take on helicopters engine, sometimes lowers it even more.I'm pretty sure it's like low graphics forces it to run off of your processor , and a setting higher higher will use the graphics card.I'm rocking a I3 4330 and a gtx 650 ti and I never go under 30fps in cities. Which is fine for me.Check postprocessing, that's a fps killer I hear. See if that helps. What's the percent load of the processor/graphics card in-game? Going to stop you right there and call bullshit on that. An i3 and a GTX 650ti without dropping below 30FPS in the cities at times? Right. So all those people with better i5s, i7s, even better AMD processors than the i3 paired with way better graphics cards, some in SLI configurations, are all full of shit when they say they drop below 30FPS at times too, right? OT: OP try to get a program to monitor your gpu and cpu usage in-game while you play. Configure your settings so that more of your GPU is being used and keep messing around until you start to see increased FPS.
deepfried 95 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) For me the biggest performance boost comes from turning off ambient occlusion, I get about +15fps with that off, trouble is it turns itself back on every time I load the game, so i have to go into the settings and turn it back off every time. OP: 35-50 FPS is good, very good in fact for that processor, many people would kill for that. The game just isn't optimised for high frame rates. Tizzle 90 Posted February 5, 2014 35-50 FPS is nothing to shake a stick at. Lag wise, you should run an internet speed test on ookla and post your results here
survivor85 2 Posted February 5, 2014 i have a internet over my cable provider so that is 32mbit ithink since its over cable and not phone company but on other games this never was a problem even with my old internet wich was only 16 mbits fast
