Yeah I'm a killer,  I axed a guy in the Balota airbase yesterday, just after I shot his friend.

 

Here's the full story, I'm at the airbase with one of my clan mates when we run into some issues, every time we tried to leave the second hanger our game would crash.

 

My friend decides that he's going to do something else as the spending 15 minutes waiting to spawn just to crash again wasn't worth it. (Yeah we tried 3 times each time we had the 300 second spawn in thing) I make a post on a the forums about it when another friend comes back on TS asking if we're still having problems and suggests I join him and 1 other clan mate on a different server hoping that'll fix itself.

 

So I do thinking it's pointless but hey I was wrong, so I loot Balota base, and was heading back out when I get the second hanger (where we kept crashing) but this time it wasn't the .exe failing to respond it's a mosin round bouncing off my arm followed by M4 rounds, my mates are way over by Elektro, too far and probably pointless to make the run to me, so I wait it out in said hanger, it's getting dark, hard to see, I quickly bandage my wounds.

 

Got my M4 pointed at the hanger entrance for a good solid 5 minutes before the M4 guy pops his head round, I dump 20 rounds from my 40 mag into his body while he hits me a few times, I somehow win the gun fight, bleeding again though and know his sniper friend is still watching for me to pop my head out. I again quickly bandage , things are going grey now, it's getting even darker (I can't see shit in the complete dark)

 

A few more minutes pass when I get hit with the dreaded red chain, man this isn't good, just as that happens Mr. Mosin comes creeping round, I empty the rest of my mag into it, thinking he's dead, I'm updating my clan mates on the two confirmed deaths, when the guy starts getting back up, shit, I'm out of ammo, I didn't reload, fuck, what now? Oh wait I have my axe, so I start swinging at his head, he finally goes down and doesn't get back up.

 

So yeah I'm a killer, but I do it for the right reasons.

I am saying the vast majority of us are killers... Spawns included.. I wasn't starting a your right I'm wrong type thing, however I personally think that anyone in a populated server is out to kill other players. I also think people are freindly until they are fully geared and hiding in the bushes.

 

If you've as you claim "never killed a player" I commend you Inception.. I also assume you play a solo survival mission. Like I mentioned as well, I might do this on a hardcore server, I hear people are a little more reluctant to kill.

Let me tell you about a story that occured not more then a mere hour ago between me (chris) and a player called (kev). I had just looted the construction site in berezino and i then go to the cattle pen right next to it. In there i see a player staring at the ground not moving, i hit him with my shovel and he springs to life and immediately pulls out his splitter axe and chases me back to construction site, i apolagise to him and he stops chasing me.

 

He tells me he is new to the game and as i had just found an sks i gave it to him because i knew he had no ammo, it was his first gun and he was over the moon, he asked for food but i had none on me so we parted with a good luck and farewell, i headed to the left of the construction site near the hospital and kev headed towards the school. i looted a lot of stuff and had annoyingly found three entire boxes of sks ammo, after i stripped berezino central i headed towards the school and climbed on the roof, but i heard a noise, who could it be???

 

I type friendly in chat but dont get a response, i start fearing for my life but then a familiar name pops up on the screen its kev, 'im friendly too' 'someone just gave me a gun' ' come to think of it, it was you', so i reply 'dont worry about me kev, come down to the back of the school i have something for you' as i approach the back i see kev looking at the floor being the noob that he is, i notice he has the gun i gave and the axe but nothing else so i could tell he really was a noob as ten minutes had passed and he had found nothing in an unlooted city, he has no backpack, no food, no ammo and no water.

 

' kev i have lots of ammo for you here', i then give a random person a gun and a shit ton of ammo and take him on a round trip to get a backpack which i fill with food, drink more ammo and a little note i wrote in it. He cant stop thanking me but i dont deserve it, if he had not chased me back at the beginning i would have killed him then and there so we part ways.

 

Kevin reads the note only to find these words on it.

 

'Not everyones a bandit and a killer kev, you dont have to be?'

 

Moral of the story is that the OP is not playing the game right or is not giving anyone a chance to prove that this game is more then just a deathmatch, it is and it always will be why dayz is a cut above the rest and if the OP cant see that then he should not be playing this game as it quite obviously does not suit his character.

 

Also i have 300 hours logged just so you know im not 'naive enough to play this way are new.'

I dont think I overdo when saying I got at least 1000 hours on DayZ Mod+ Standalone and I have never ever been a killer. I never killed anyone because I wanted his stuff or for whatever reason. So nope I am not a killer.

So why are only the "nice" people responding?? It's obvious that you are the friggin minority of this game..

 

 I am not a nice person. (just ask my wife) i am not a killer as you want to define one. Have I had encounters where others died and i walked away? Yes.  I did not initiate the violence.

 

I will help others within reason, on my terms and my terms only.  On the rare occasion that i may ask for help it is not expected nor do i hold it against you if you say you can't.

 

If that puts me in the minority then GOOD, makes for a better experience for me.

Nope i´m not a killer.

I guess i played about 50 hours right know and only killed 3 people.

2 were shooting at me and one was simple begging to get shot ;)

 

The guy had an axe drawn when i encountered him so i pointed a pistol at him.

Hi quickly raised hands. So i greeted him and did move on.

As soon as i turned around he started running at me with is axe in his hands again.

And of course raised his hands again when i draw my gun ;)

i gave him a last chance and told him that i will shoot him next time (i even fired a warning shot)

But what did he do? He tried it a 3rd time :)

Have fun dropping food off for those that could give zero fucks. I know where to go when I'm hungry I guess?, yay me. Read some stories, bandits held me up, disinfectant spray, rotten food, take all my loot then kill me, assholes on sniper hill. Meanwhile your running around the coast with a fully loaded weapon dropping food off to people. Why not give them your gun?, you don't need it.

 

Everyone in game is so fucking nice that more than likely they will just take it and walk away. I mean that's really doing someone a favor right? They don't want your fucking beans, they want your fucking gun. You wanna know why Solodude? So they can go kill fuckers like everyone else.

i'd be happy to have some free food as a fresh spawn, you usually start of pretty hungry and it's a nice time saver to get a little food so you can comfortably head to a bigger town without the extra scavenging especially on a populated server that is looted out, the people hiding in bushes sniping are who ruin the zombie survival experience.

yeah this game is so much more then a deathmatch, but to many people are out there treating it as such, playing on a low population server is the way to go in my opinion, we just explore and scavenge and lay waste to zombies.

With over 300hrs in game, if you still play unicef your not doing it right. PVP is the game for the vast majority of the population. It's not call of fucking duty either, it's essentailly arma with Zombies.

Do you think I will listen to what you think is the right way to play a game? If you state that my way of playing a game is wrong, you are at the same time making it clear that your own view of said game is quite narrow...

I don't always kill everyone I meet... Notice =SKS= & [TWD] Members in my photo... We met at the NEAF. We split ways only to find out that they were in Berenzino, however one of the 3 dudes from =SKS= was pinned down.

 

My group of 7 at the time promptly aided the SKS member to safety, at which point I took this photo...

I started KoSing anyone holding a gun, but I wouldn't ever kill a newspawn or a guy with an axe far enough away.

Yet to kill someone in the Standalone and have only killed in self-defence in the mod on two occasions (long time ago - over a year and a half perhaps?), both when I was at a disadvantage & got lucky. I don't need to kill other survivors to have fun, I'm content roaming Chernarus, exploring and surviving. I enjoy strolling across hills and through woods, sneaking into a village to find the odd tin of food or refill my water bottles at a pump. I've had several people cold in my sights in the 30 hours I've played of the SA so far but not had to fire a single round.

Woohoo! I have shot exactly ONE dude in the 35+ hours I logged so far. And he shot one of my mates before that. I cannot remember having "murdered" anyone in DayZ STandalone so far. :-)

 

And to why only the nice people are sesponding: They gather around the "social experiment" aspect of the game, are more communicative, and therefore more present at some places where chiter chatter goes on, like...this forum. So, our presence here is a statistical bias inherent to the system/problem at hand.

 

(edit: If I ever went to Elektro, I would switch to instant-KoS mode. No other way there. I am no saint, and I am no fool. Let alone the saint of fools.)
