So I feel kinda bad now....

Recommended Posts

So the char I was playing and gearing up died...of friendly ax to face...lol. So I decided to mess around on the fresh guy just to have some fun. I come into electro with nothing but a mask and a knife. I'm not a kos'er by trade but this time im out for blood. I came across this guy at the power plant on the edge of town, and without saying anything I start to slice him up.

After three or four hits, he stops and calls me a troll-I should quit the game yada yada. I respond with "your gear shall be mine" still having a few lol's at the guys expense. Then he says something that really hurt deep down in my hero soul. "We could have been friends"

I stop tell the guy im sorry and ill bandage him up. "No point" he says. As I think now I could have given him my blood ( O+) if it matched up. I ask if he wants me to finish him off - "Do it"

After he died, I felt like a real d**k. So i grab his loot and start heading back down the coast hoping that I would find him and return it. Two or three fresh spawns pass - not him. Was kinda funny chasing someone down asking " Are you the guy I just killed in electro?".

So to finish up I never found the guy...ended up dying of starvation still running down the road looking. I hope you are reading this and know that I am sorry, and maybe we can be friends after all.  /awwmoment ;)

"We could have been friends"

But stabbing him is more fun.

Just further proof this game will deteriorate into pure KOS unless something is done.

How many times have you KOS'd for no other reason than to just decide you wanted to be a jerk to them?  I'm guessing every interaction with another person.

If he called you a troll, he obviously wouldn't be a good friend. A REAL friend will still be your buddy, even if you stab him 37 times in the chest. I learned that just yesterday, actually. We're good friends, but my friend seems really quiet...

Actually I prob wont do it very often after this experience. You never know who is behind that toon you are about to off. In dayz like this its better to have friends than enemy's.

Like the first line in the post. My RL friend chopped me in the face with an ax by mistake. I cannot blame him for calling me a troll tho...because that is what I was doing.

"Very often?"  So you'll just randomly choose to kill other players?  And what about the guy you killed?  Do you think he's now likely to consider KOS as well, now that he got killed without warning?

I'm getting the feeling you get killed a lot? Maybe minecraft is more your speed then? All jokes aside- If my friends and I see you or your group in a place we want to loot, one of two things will happen. We will either 1) kill you or 2) try to hold you up and make you leave. It's just part of the "game". I might have worded my first post wrong. I will* KOS. But I usually have a good reason too, not just for the fun of it. hmmm...even seems to me like im back-tracking a bit with this post but I feel the two are totally different and I should have worded it better.

no matter how you decide to play your next toon - or the one after that. the story you cared to share with us shows to me again, that its not all mindless killing. you made a decision, and then you reflected upon it. you have experienced different emotions, and in the end, you are one experience richer. this is what i love about DayZ. thanks for sharing.

to me, this story is proof of the opposite.
