Setting up own private standalone Server

Hello there, my name is Jan,

i have a own private root-server and i want to set up a DayZ Server. Is it possible to set up one for me and my friends in germany? I searched a lot of threads in google but i only found dayz mod server =(

all in all its a cool game =)

Not at this time. The Dev team has not released the server files for hosting your own private "in-house" server. Maybe in beta.

People are renting them from server hosts who HAVE permission to rent them out.

right now you have to rent servers from company like gameservers.com

If you want it now, that's the deal. And not private. Wait and you will get what you desire I think.

Possibly but I would expect (hope), that your private server would have its own hive/db.  Go to a different server and you would get a new character.  Your private server character could only be used on your private server.
