e00c 84 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Afternoon Guys, I think the current way people suggest ideas is pants. Great ideas get lost due to the endless amounts of new topics.Do devs really see these? If they do look, it's hard to distinguish what ideas are good, bad, crap or what the players would like to see. That being the case, I've quickly put together a website where people can vote, submit & comment on ideas. Users get 20 votes per month (current bug.. so just use 19 or you can't submit!). BI have been informed about it, and should the site gather speed - they've been offered full control of it. I've not done this for personal gain. I signed up to this game to participate and aid where I can... If it gathers speed, then job done! It's just a much easier, more organised way to see the most popular ideas. They're no adverts, no links, nothing else but a page about suggestions. You don't even have to be registered. Just try and use your forum name when commenting / submitting things. Website link: http://dayzideas.info --- If you see an idea that is in progress, let me know. I'll change the status --- Edited February 3, 2014 by jumling
twingunz 308 Posted February 3, 2014 Honestly i don't think the devs really care too much of our ideas (and i'm fine with that) i always think of the suggestions forum to be more of a way for us to express what we would like to see or how we perceive where the game is heading, letting us debate about our ideas as a way to express our enthusiasm for this game, instead of a resource for the devs to look at.Not saying there haven't been great ideas by the community i just don't think the devs would want to spend too much time looking into it when 9/10 times they will have the same ideas we have or better, plus they understand the engine, how it works and what they can / can't do with it, which is another thing we don't fully know.Just my 2 cents.all that said i am not knocking your idea, i like your enthusiasm! cywehner1234 582 Posted February 3, 2014 I don't really like the idea of you makeing another website JUST for suggestions. Considering you are not related to the DayZ staff or anything remotely near it, I feel like it's a bad effort to get traffic to your website. While I would fully support an official suggestion website, I will not promote a unoffical website for the fact that they will not see it even more than they don't now. Why would the devs go to your website just for suggestions?.. Sorry for sounding like an ass, had to be said. Website looks nice and clean by the way. :p
e00c 84 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) There's no info on there to suggest any self promoting. Not even a name. Yes it's empty at the moment, but, generally - if things get used, they get noticed :)As said above, they've got the option of taking it off my hands to manage it them selves (Y) You must agree though, the current suggestion topics are a bloody mess. It's stupid >_< p.s: criticise away, I don't mind :P Edited February 3, 2014 by jumling

fisheye 21 Posted February 3, 2014 Try to be realistic before doing something like this - it won't work. Firstly because people don't like having accounts or even visiting several webpages related to the same topic and secondly, because the devs won't visit it at all. And yeah, the current way of suggesting something is a crap. There are milions of topics created and it is indeed hard to distinguish the good ones. And what i mean by "the good ones"? The most popular, most liked suggestion. By a good number of players. In my opinion, there should be a POST SUGGESTION page, similiar to the REPORT BUG page. Look at rankings there. You can easily see what is most important for players (by voting) and I believe that the devs occasionally visit it. Creating POST SUGGESTION page would lead to having about 50 good suggestions seen on the rankings, which the devs could think about seriously.
Awruk 216 Posted February 3, 2014 Sorry but only because idea is voted for it doesn't mean it's any good.
e00c 84 Posted February 3, 2014 What is with people? 90% posts on this forum are full of negative crap. Mainly moaning about the game which they knew about wasn't complete. If people didn't set up due to failure, there'd be a lot of things in this world that wouldn't exist. Our job as alpha tester's is to help the development of a game which has great potential. Yet, no one does. Post after post, topic after topic bitching because they've been killed or some dodgy rabbits making zombie sounds. Plenty of developers use systems like this, not just games, software developers too. It helps give them an idea of what people are looking for. They don't have to take the ideas, but it gives clearer future direction. Had BI implemented this, people would jump on it straight away. See those petitions? Get 100,000 sign ups? They get noticed, they get discussed in the house of commons (UK). This, is no different to that :-) You don't have to like it or even be involved. But shitty comments like "it'll never work" are just plain ignorant.
jona (DayZ) 61 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Instead of 20 votes do it either like youtube were you dislike or like this suggestion and shows the number of views or do it as a 5 star rating system this 20 votes thing does't feel right I spent all my on the testing idea =D. So do it like pornhub highest rated and most viewed most recent, longest and type author name popular this week popular this month. DeatHTaX 1217 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah I'm kind of in agreement with twingunz. At this point in time there's just no room for most of the ideas people are putting forth (and let's be honest, the majority of them are absolutely ridiculous) Most of the suggestions people are making are more late-stage development oriented IMO. Plus, good luck making a system like that. xD lol
jona (DayZ) 61 Posted February 3, 2014 I think this new website thing is a great idea no reason to be cynical about it if u create a topic on Dayz SA forums just copy and past it onto here. My only flaw with this website is the voting system I think I needs to be 5 star ratings and the other stuff above so jumling get to work =D
