DayZ Map

Recommended Posts

Alright, so the new map, Chernarus+ is pretty awesome. They've made some nice changes specially to Balota Airfield, the Ship wreck and the new town recently added, but still...the map does not feel apocalyptic at all, there's too much green and not enough concrete and buildings.

I thought, for a second, on a 100% urban map like one big Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk or a Liberty City on hell...but I realize on how boring it would get, specially when tents, hunting, bases gets added to the game.

Then I thought about other zombie games and Resident Evil (classic Resident Evils) came up. The Raccoon City map was prett creepy and apocalyptic. Burning cars, buildings, corpses and blood on the streets, on the walls...lots of roadblocks and car crashes, broken glass, screams and gunshots sounds.

My idea is to increase the cities size, Kamishovo or Pusta are pretty useless even when fresh spawn. Having full concrete roads, stores, houses, roadblocks on the street, smoke from fires and such would add to the immersion and atmosphere of the game

A more urban envoirements, with forest like the game already has, but with big proper cities, including proper building for this (like a school featured in Taviana instead the one currently in Chernarus)

I loaded the Take On Helicopters Seattle map in Arma 3 once and dreamt of DayZ in it - until you get on the ground and realise the buildings and streets are to be viewed from the air, not the ground.

An urban setting would be great but it would be a lot of work and can you imagine the hardware required?

Well it's not like it was a nuclear apocalypse, or a meteor strike. It doesn't make sense for the environment to die in response to a human-only disease.

I just watched a video of it.. wow. It really does look awesome.

But you are right, it would be a lot of work, and performance would greatly suffer.

Cherno already gives me only 1/3 of the fps I have elsewhere.
