Dayz won't load

Hi, Bought game through Steam and I can't get it to load. I get error message from steam stating "failed to start game (unknown error)". When I try to execute the DayZ exe in the Steam folder I get an error message telling me "Unable to locate a running instance of steam". I have verified the content and manually installed DirectX from the DayZ folder. I have run as admin from steam and local folder but no joy. I have deleted it and redownloaded & installed it but no joy.

 

I have attached the two error messages to this post.

 

Can anyone help? Loved the mod and am gutted have paid £20 for a pretty error message!!

Sorry to bump an old thread but if people actually started searching then they will find the solution that i'm about to post when and if they have it.

 

 

Right click on the game in steam

Properties

Local Files

View local files

Right click on DayZ.exe

Compatibility

Click "Run as administrator" & apply

Start game via steam.

 

 

There you go. It should run fine. If not then i don't know how to help you.

Try this dude. I had the same problem. Took me two weeks to fix it.

1.) Verify game cache

2.) Restart steam

3.) Run game(DayZ.exe) as admin ---> C://Program files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/DayZ

If it doesn't work then update your graphics card driver.

1.) Right click my computer

2.) Click properties

3.) Device Manager

4.) Display Adapters

5.) Right click graphics card driver then update.

 

Worked for me. Hopefully it would work for you
