SKS 30 round magazine attachment

Would be  nice to have 30 round AK style magazines as an attachment to the SKS. They do exist and the rifle is really easy to modify for them, all you need is a screwdriver. Heres a vid about the mags

Well when I said that its easy to do, I was more than anything appeasing to the ppl that might say "ugh stripping and modifying a gun without any proper tools in the wilderness impossibru". Ofcourse in the game it would just work like any other attachment. You just replace the normal 10 round clip of the sks. Im fairly sure that installing a scope on the mosin is alot more work than that irl.

Although I was browsing a Serbian forum the other day and a couple members had Choate stocks on their Yugos. Go figure. I'm fine without the duckbill magazines.

Again with the realism nuts... Who knows maybe there are soviet made 30 round mags. Same as there is a variant of the sks modified to use actual ak mags.

They also tend to suck and have feeding issues. Although I am for faultily equipment that can be used by idiots.

The guy in the vid said he had no problems, and srsly why not just accept this as a cool attachment and not go with full realism. Same way the M4 can have 60 round mags that arent really 60 round mags and you can fully load them in a second, something that in reality would take you minutes. Why arent people complaining about that?

I guess it'd be about as likely as finding US made weapons at every Russian military position on the map?

 

Anyway, unless there is a real draw back in doing so, Rocket and the team may allow the (rumored) AK-74M magazines to be used by the SKS.  Like OP said, in way the two weapons are part of the same family.  I don't even know if I'd bother with the screwdriver portion.

 

Edit - errr, I'll leave the original post as is but the error of my ways came to me as soon as I posted.  The 74M mags would be for 5.45 rounds while the SKS uses the 7.62 I believe so my bad.  There would have to be a unique mag, but you could call it "Adapted AK-47 Mag" or something, which would likely be plentiful.

I tend to not go by "what the guy said" and personal experience.Stuff like 30 round magazines for an SKS or Archangel stocks for Mosin Nagants tend to be of poor quality and have a short life. Also Surefire makes 60 round casket magazines for the AR-15/M16 series rifle.

Yes, I do acknowledge the fact that irl those might lead to poor feeding, but were talking about a game here. Dayz is not realistic and having those as a normal attachment seems perfectly fine to me. And im only talking about the 30 round steel variant that fits with the sks and the scenario to some extent. All the polymer stuff are out of the question.

The "Normal Attachments" are equipment that that has been proven to work. MAGPUL accessories,Knight Armament rails and other items for the M4 have a good reputation for their durability. TAPCO and the other crap companies that make goofy stuff like 30 round magazines have a reputation for being shit quality. Like I said, Yes allow it, but make it lead to double feeds or other malfunctions.

Also that guy in the video is a fucking retard. Attaching a 30 round magazine does not make a rifle an "Assault Rifle" as it is not a select fire weapon.
