victusmortuus 1074 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) I played today on the experimental server, I was at Berezino and got chased by 7-8 of them. I got away to the Lumbermill just north of Berezino. I turned around 5 minutes later and they were still chasing me. It was very surreal. Is this something new or have they always followed you mindlessly? Sweendawg 37 Posted January 30, 2014 depends if they lose line of sight or not , I oncc corralled a half dozen or so and left them in the middle of the woods north of cherno, they did follow until I ran up and over a hill ...
StayAlive (DayZ) 169 Posted January 30, 2014 From my experience they stop running when they can't see you/or you them.
kegaro2 20 Posted January 30, 2014 If you sprint, (double-tap W) with nothing in your hands, you can out pace them and once you're far enough ahead of them they give up. But you also need to try and put some sort of obstacle between you and them to try and break line of sight, otherwise they keep following you.
pants! 83 Posted January 30, 2014 I've always wanted to lead a train of a dozen or more Zs into the middle of Cherno. :D
stolenbanjos 110 Posted January 30, 2014 I've always wanted to lead a train of a dozen or more Zs into the middle of Cherno. :DThat's a great idea, good fun for target practice too.
twinturbonet (DayZ) 294 Posted January 30, 2014 I've actually had like 2 or 3 run after me that I aggro'd in a city as I was leaving. They just randomly stopped following me after about 2 minutes. This has happened many times and I am not trying to get out of their line of sight, I'm just running without paying any attention to them. lol
Window Licker 504 Posted January 30, 2014 They did some work on the Z's in this patch, most interesting.
DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted January 30, 2014 They used to chase you for a very long time in the mod but they would stop as soon as they lost line of sight, unfortunately the zombies in the standalone can see through walls so they can be extremely difficult to shake off. I'm sure it'll be fixed sooner or later.
KrakenDomes 9 Posted January 30, 2014 Sometimes I feel like even breaking line of sight doesn't work. And zombies glitch through everything!!!! Walls, houses, trees.

twinturbonet (DayZ) 294 Posted January 30, 2014 They just need to fix their no-clipping ability. That would help a lot.
