Questions To M4 Firemode, Distance Measuring, Field Of View

Recommended Posts

Hi together,

i play DayZ Standalone now for about 4 weeks and its a lot of fun, meeting friendly and hostile people!

But now i have got some questions i didnt got an answer by researching in the www.

1. M4: switching fire mode for M4 is in my settings key „T“. but how can is see what fire mode is active? Theres no feedback when pressing „T“ and also i cant see it when looking at my weapon ( in first person mode).

2. Estimating/measuring distance: with the ACOG optic there are some dots under the center oft he scope. I think that i could use this to estimate the distance to a target. Do anyone knows a formula to calculate the distance with theese dots? For example is a zombie about 1.8m and i would like to count the dots in the scopeview and then calculate the distance ( about 1.8m (target) / 3dots (scope) * „x“ = ….600m(distance)). i hope u know what i mean. i dont want to use the dayZdb.com to measure.

3. field of view (FOV): i can change the filed of view in the Options. I use this for example to aim more precisly by lowering the FOV. But ist not very comfortable. In the www resaerch i read in a forum that using FOV that way would be a kind of „cheat“. Is that true? If not and ist a regular feature by the gamedesigner  – is it possible to keybinding the the de- and increasing FOV and if yes how? I didnt found that in the options.

Many thanks to answer me 1 or more questions

Dolce

2. I believe that you are supposed to match one of the horizontal lines on the ACOG with the shoulder width on your target to get distance from you.

I'm sure over time they will add ways for us to see our Rate of Fire...its just to early on right now and there is more important issues they will be addressing.

i would prefer the altitude of an object because the width is very different the target is running straight to you or 90°.

i could also estimate the distance to a house for example (2.05-210m normally) equal from what angel i look at the house

This can be applied to the SA-Acog as well.

You will have to reduce the FOV to the minimum in order to see the mil dots accurately.

I know thats is not intended but as the normal FoV makes the ACOG appear too far from the head, see here:

...it is the only option until the Dev-Team is handling FoV and Scope-View separately, which I hope will happen somewhere down the road.

Especially when you compare the Dayz-MOD Acog-View with the SA Acog-View the difference in zooming is quite obvious.

Currently the SA-Acog only magnifies by 1.56x while it should have 4x magnification.

The only scope that is currently comfortable to use on high FoV Settings is the Long Range Scope.
