What Is The Current Penalty For Switching Servers Too Often?

Recommended Posts

Everyone acknowledges that it exists but they have all been skirting around the actual punishment. What is it?

ATM, nothing*. After the next stable patch, there will be a 30 second log out timer followed by a relogging delay when joining the same or a different server. Not sure what the relog timer is set at or whether it is static or increasing by number of servers. Experimental servers are down ATM so can't test.

* Apart from the chance to hose your character due to hive issues, ofc.

Is the delay a timer that increases on each server change, or is it some bullshit like the mod's character wipe? Also, about the logout timer:

What if I go into a house, and log out, and while I'm at my desktop screen, a zombie back in the game phases through the wall and slaughters me when I didn't aggravate it or couldn't have defended against it?

Currently, nothing. Maybe a character wipe every now and again

It actually happens more often than not that I have to re-log to fix a bug or open a can of tuna because it disappears...Truthfully I think we should fix other pressing issues than this. I understand that its frustrating and what not to have someone server hopping or what ever but I'm probably going to be more frustrated at the fact that I'm going to be available for attack/ penalized for trying to resolve other issues in the game.

Yeah I thought of this too and it might suck. Some times you don't even notice zombies chasing you from a long ways away or w/e and could see this happening often.

I think it should be, you are still logged in and see the 30 second timer ticking down, and then you log out at the end of the 30 seconds, so you can still react if something comes for you. Then just make it so if your game crashes or you alt F4, your char is still there for 30 seconds with the game closed.

So there is still no combat logging, but you can be sure you log out safely instead of just not even knowing if you will log in dead or not.

Sorry, was at work so couldn't reply.

30 sec log out timer. Be careful where you log out. Zombie, Bandit or KoS kiddie isn't going to know whether you're logging or not. You'll have to make sure your in a safe place before you disconnect.

Don't know about the log in delay. Weren't able to get on an experimnental server to check. Don't know if they are even up yet.

Easy to avoid, go prone, hide in a corner, go to a room with less windows and position your self correctly.

If you just log out in the middle of a living room, with 10 windows and expect nothing yo happen, its your own fault if you end up dead mate :)

Simply find the safespot and then log, its not difficult and most people already do this tbh.
